  1. You are making assumption this management can identify such players and develop them. Their track record is very sub par in getting trade returns that are productive players. Ryan is the exception and not the rule.
  2. Regardless of the payroll, we do not have a front office that knows how to build a winner. They can't develop position players, have had more luck with pitchers. They don't know how to allocate the resources given to them efficiently, they paid Gallo $11m when no one else was offering him anything near that. Yes the Pohlads deserve everything coming to them but the biggest failing is not hiring a front office that is in alignment with their goals and build a team within the parameters given. This is what other teams do like Milwaukee and Cleveland. Hire someone with baseball experience that knows how to do develop a plan of what the roster should look like and develop the players accordingly and then hire a new manager.
  3. And yet noted speedster Josh Naylor has 22 stolen bases this year. Yes speed is needed but it is also about being smart baseball players knowing when to take your chances. This team has chosen the style they want to play and now Baldelli is acting like he is inventing a new style of baseball never seen before.
  4. You mean the whole month of August? The more he plays the more he is exposed. I want to keep him for next year but he should start a couple of days a week and come off the bench. He has good skills that translate well when coming off the bench.
  5. Gasper will not be part of the roster next year, it has become apparent he is not a catcher and he can not hit up here. So see what you have in Cardenas or Winkel. You aren't winning games this year, see what you have for next year.
  6. I doubt Pereda is in the plans for 2026. He is not young anymore and they are keeping Gasper up here over him. Why would anyone think he would even be an option for next year when he can't even beat out Gasper this year.
  7. Wasn't referring to this year only. Teams have lost two pitchers and you should be able to overcome that, so it should not be an excuse for this year.
  8. Teams do this all the time. Milwaukee this year, Guardians have done it in the past. The Dodgers have done it this year. A good organization develops depth to withstand injuries that will happen. Of course there is a certain amount of injuries you can't overcome, but two pitchers you should be able to.
  9. While we all want answers now, we won't know until the partnerships are announced. We do not know how much influence they will have, it will be their money as well. Maybe they are bought into the Pohlad vision but maybe they have their own they can steer the family to. They are going to be putting in probably around $200-250m each, I am not sure anyone wants to put that money into the team just to be a passive investor. We need to be patient and we will see this offseason what direction the team takes. I want to know now as well but it isn't going to be known until we know how the relationship works between the Pohlads and the partners.
  10. I really hate that contact play, it only works with a runner like Buxton.
  11. We are not a serious team, Julien has had a good night, why take him out for a guy who is hitting .100 and can't bunt.
  12. He can play CF is the only thing I have seen.
  13. That was my question, why are they giving more opportunity to the new guy vs. Wallner. Have they made up their minds about him.
  14. I thought they traded Paddack and his almost 5 ERA who was nothing more than a serviceable number 4 pitcher at best. Was there another trade I missed.
  15. The problem with trading Ryan and/or Lopez is the person responsible for making the trade. I don't want to see them traded. But I am afraid it will happen but to me trusting Falvey to get a good return is an exercise in futility. He will get players with a "tweak here and there" they might become a contributor. If we trade them we have to get proven major league players back and top prospects ready to break through and I don't see that happening with Falvey in charge.
  16. Joe has to come out for the 7th. Rocco sit down and do not go to the vaunted bullpen.
  17. Too bad Gasper is not in the lineup, I bet he would have gotten those runs in.
  18. Now that Clemens is turning into a pumpkin can we move him down in the order.
  19. They did say one group is from Minnesota and the other is a family from the East Coast. The way they are answering the question I don't they are private equity groups.
  20. But the question is, especially after the news today is Falvey going to continue down the bulk pitcher nonsense in the minors and try to shove it into the major league level as well. If he is, this article means nothing because they are not going to change course unless the limited partners have any say and tell him to run the organization like a major league baseball team and not a lab experiment.
  21. It is the only thing keeping me from being fully depressed. I agree it is a very small chance but I need something to hang onto.
  22. The only way this will be a positive is if the Pohlads let the limited partners have true input into the running of the team similar to what ARod and Lore did with the Wolves. They were responsible for bringing in Connelly. They can not run it back with Falvey in charge, so we will know fairly quickly in the offseason what influence the limited partners have.
