  1. No one will want them, Washington had no takers for him last year at the trade deadline and his numbers are worse this year. He doesn't hit enough for a full time DH which is all he is. You can easily move on from these guys if the front office really had a plan. But they are just winging it day by day.
  2. I am not sure I would compare Larnach to Wallner. Today everybody looked like it was the end of a 10 day road trip. Larnach has had a rough two weeks but I am not sure he is at Wallner's level yet. I am waiting for ERod and Jenkins to get healthy to replace him or least reduce his playing time.
  3. Any hope that changes might happen tomorrow with Outman just vanished with his pinch hitting appearance.
  4. A lot of people have been down on Jeffers, but I don't recall a catcher's interference call on him.
  5. Why not let him start an inning in his debut. He has not pitched in relief this year that I saw.
  6. So who is our fifth starter if Paredes comes in today. Do they have any kind of plan as an organization. They need to bring a senior advisor to Zoll this week. Zoll is in over his head.
  7. The article is not about having a long reliever. It is about having pitchers pitch bulk innings on a predetermined schedule. That is why you can say they are innovative and everything else, but you can't have a predetermined plan going into the game without being prepared to deviate from the plan based on the game flow. That is exactly what they don't do. And then you use up two pitchers in one day as others have said and you are backing yourself into a corner in future games.
  8. Lewis has been hitting over .300 since being sent down, might want to look at your source again.
  9. I agree 100%, I think the problem was Joe actually worked in the marketing department and had an office at Target field. I think he developed a relationship with Falvey from that time working with him as more of a peer and it became a blind spot to evaluating his performance. And that is where I blame the Pohlad family for not having a clean handoff to the next generation because it has set this team back.
  10. I blame them for that as well. But it feels people on here like to blame the Pohlads for every personnel move, and Falvey always gets a pass. That was my whole point.
  11. The Pohlads didn't decide to keep Outman over Roden, there is no other backup catcher in the minor leagues. You can thank Falvey for that, not the Pohlads. The only prospect that is potentially being kept in check for service time is Culpepper. There are many other guys they could bring up, that would not be impacted by service time. The Pohlads screwed up last offseason by not getting rid of Falvey in October so that they could get a real baseball executive in to lead the team.
  12. I think it is fairly safe to say, they are not going to play Larnach at 1B, they have had 4 years and haven't done it yet. Right now with this roster what difference would it make, who would play LF then. They need massive changes to this roster.
  13. I don't disagree about Shelton. But some of this is dictated by the front office analytics of how they play in all the different situations. I was hoping we would get further away from this without Falvey, but we haven't gotten far enough away.
  14. Should be two outs but they keep playing the infield in and prolonging these innings.
  15. Arcia at 1B, Clemens in CF and Gray at SS. Yet we have no room for Fedko, Sabato or Culpepper. Outman can not be on this roster on Monday, why isn't Shelty being asked why Outman isn't out there for Buxton. That is why he supposedly made the roster specifically over Roden.
  16. Now we are going to see the fruits of this awesome strategy. They have called up Paredes for Ober. They have no starting pitching in St. Paul and so now they will call up a bulk guy and burn the bullpen when he starts or they will do a bullpen day. But you can't do that every time Ober's turn comes around.
  17. So is Paredes the fifth starter, if so, he isn't stretched out. On days he pitches you will need 5 innings from the bullpen. This is the result of their awesome bulk pitcher strategy.
  18. Was he a bright spot in April, no he was not. Clemens is not an every day player, I have nothing against him on the roster but playing him every day doesn't happen on a winning team. And I want the Twins to build toward being a winning team, have a plan that doesn't include relying on scrap heap pickups.
  19. We are on pace to win 74 games with 5 players on this roster that should be the 26th man on the roster. I don't care about one game's results. I want to see a plan that moves us towards being a consistently competitive team. Playing all the AAAA and aging vets is getting us 74 wins. Bring up Fedko, Sabato and Culpepper, even if they are not all prospects. These are guys you have invested in and see what they can do. Maybe one breaks thru and you have a hole filled for next year. Or you know where the holes are and allocate the resources as needed. Non prospects are called up all the time but for some reason this team wants to stick with someone like Outman who has done absolutely nothing. And they aren't even playing him for Buxton which was supposed to be his role. What is the downside to bringing up Fedko as the fourth outfielder to see if maybe you have something there. He can at least produce Outman like numbers.
  20. The problem is there will be no market for Bell at the trade deadline just like last year. The Nationals could not find any takers for him at last year's deadline and as you noted his performance has declined even more this year. So if they aren't willing to eat those dollars we will be stuck with him for the whole season. And he is absolutely unplayable at 1B and doesn't hit well enough to be a full time DH.
  21. There has to be a couple of late 20's, early 30's utility guys about to be DFA'd that we can trade for to fill those spots. We do value versatility.
  22. While I don't disagree about giving Martin a break, any plan that includes regular AB's for Kreidler, Outman, Bell or Gray is not a plan. Playing Clemens any more than 3 to 4 days a week will catch up to them as well. Call up Fedko, Gonzalez, Culpepper and Sabato. Cut or option Kreidler, Gray, Bell and Outman. Gonzalez rotates at the corner OF spots and DH's. Fedko and Martin can play CF if Buxton can't.
  23. And the union would just stand by and allow this to happen. You know it doesn't work that way, but go ahead and think and say whatever you want.
