    This team relies on 1 year fringe guys and can not develop players, that is the culture set up by Falvey and continues with Zoll. They use analytics as the guiding principal not as a tool. This organizational structure has produced a .500 record over the last 10 years. I personally as a fan am not satisfied with that. Calling up Jackson today is just another example of no plan and no trust in the players they develop. This is what I am referring to when I talk about the front office and what the thought processes are. I for one am done with Zoll, this organization needs a top to bottom review of what's working and what's not and that won't happen until you get someone in from the outside.

    This organization has not changed, Falvey wasn't making all these decisions himself. He was being advised by people who agree with this nonsense of how to do things. And his top advisor was Zoll for probably the last 5 years, I don't why people thought things would change. Nothing will change until Tom P. shows real leadership and brings a baseball executive that knows how to run an operation and uses analytics as a tool. And he can clean house with anybody who doesn't agree.

    Tonight Jackson will be in LF, Caratini at 1B and Lewis at 2B. Let's see how many other players we can play out of position.

    They had to add him to the 40 man roster, so then why not Jenkins. They have 3 outfielders and Luke, so this means more of Clemens and Kreidler in the outfield. Whatever happened to playing players at their natural position. Why do they have no faith in the players they develop, yes Culpepper was called up basically because they had no choice with the play they were getting at shortstop. You do have wonder if they are sitting in St. Paul what does it take to get called up. Will we have any real reporters ask the question why Jackson especially when they wouldn't play him before. We have an abundance of outfielders and they call up a third catcher who nobody else wants Zoll needs to go now, I thought the Gray for Buxton move put me over the edge but this is just as egregious. At what point are we going to attempt to raise the talent level on this team. Playing all these average or sub average fringe players like Bell, Caratini, Jackson, Kreidler, Clemens is why we are a sub .500 team and will continue to be.

    If they are keeping Caratini, they need a stronger second catcher. Caratini should not be the main catcher but that seems the direction are going. Jackson should only play 30 games or so but with Caratini it will be closer to 70 games needing to be covered.

    I agree with the premise of the post, but is Roden hurt or did they choose not to play him. It sounded like the radio side was speculating but was there something else said. As for Buxton is he hurt or just managing the the hip issue so it doesn't flare up. That does make it harder just to IL if he doesn't feel he is injured. Hopefully there will be a move for Martin today.

    Not putting Roden in for Martin was a real head scratcher. When the trade was made last year, it was said he had plus defense iirc. So why not put him in there at that point. It is almost like they think there is a prize for the most position changes made in a season.

    I don't understand how this can be, I have been basically shouted at for the last two weeks how what a colossal failure it would be to put him on waivers and he would be snapped up in minutes. Maybe baseball people know more than others on here after all. The good news is we now have our journeyman 3rd catcher in case of injury that I said would be available.

    It is interesting that they didn't sub in Roden for Martin, I mean he is an outfielder and I thought his defense above average. They thought enough of his defense to play in CF last year and in spring training. So if he isn't coming in this situation why is he on this roster. They need to get players on the roster that either Shelty trusts to play or tell him he has to play them. This process of just not using players is truly mind boggling.

    If we are going to keep advocating playing guys that are fringe or playing role players every day we will always be a .500 team. So either upgrade the talent or go young and put Ross in there and take your lumps. Maybe it pays off in future years at least. I see comments all the time that Clemens should play 2B or a corner OF next year. His role is not as a starter, it is a role player. I find it ironic his and Lee's stats are pretty similar, yet many question whether Lee hits enough to be a regular but yet Clemens does. Bottom line, upgrade the talent.

    I looked at stats that were not updated with todays results from baseball ref. MLB stats are updated in real time, baseball ref stats aren't.

    I was looking at stats coming into today, not after his last AB.

    I am not hating him, I am stating reality. What is our record with him hitting primarily in the middle of the order this year, we are a sub .500 team. He has a role on a team, but it is not a middle of the order bat playing every day.

    I was counting coming into today. But if you defend him hitting in the #4 spot, you go ahead. But this is why this team is a sub .500 and remain one. Clemens is not a cornerstone player they are treating him. He will have a couple of good months same as last year and when he slumps, he slumps badly. He needs to play three to four days a week that is where he will be most successful in helping a team win.

    He's actually 4 homeruns and two were in the same game on July 18th almost a month ago. So yes he has been in a slump.

    I have no idea what you are looking at, 4th in OPS coming into today, and 8th in batting average, His stats are almost similar to Lee's and yet Lee gets bounced around anywhere from 2nd to 8th in the order. Yet Clemens is batting 4th even in the middle of a massive slump. Hopefully he is breaking out, but I want it in more than one game.

    Just like Arraez should never play 2B again, seem I heard that before.

    He is a competitor and wants to help the team, you can't blame him for wanting to help the team. He has at least improved the defense in CF. But yes he needs to pick up the pace on offense.

    He needed to do this to start earning his playing time, the last 28 days, he has a .172 ave and .536 OPS, you need more from your clean up hitter at a minimum. Lee gets dropped in the order after one bad game. Hopefully Clemens builds off this, because he has not been a positive contributor on offense for the last month.

    He has been our best hitter for the last month and a half. And he has played 19 games in RF. Maybe show some patience because we are going to win more games with Luke in the lineup than without.

    I agree, he needs to be dropped down until he starts hitting again. Is this team serious about winning or not.
