Maybe it will be Tristan Gray, he might just be ready to turn the corner.
  2. HarmonK03
You mentioned a little more than that and again I don't feel this is the site for it.

I have a feeling they have moved on from Wallner at least in spirit. His numbers call for him to be called up long before this. I think he is the perfect candidate for a change of scenery. I still like him and think there is something there, but it is at a point where I don't think it will work out with the Twins.

I do like to come to this site to get away from politics, it's probably best to make that point from the second paragraph on another non sports site.

This is a good article based on the roster as constructed currently. But there has to be changes, unless they think some players can make a big leap or continue to grow. We have been a sub .500 team for the last few years with a lot of these players. They need an honest evaluation of where they are at and what they need moving forward. Just stop signing league 1 year stop gaps. Milwaukee, Cleveland and TB are able to stay competitive without spending. It's how about the resources are spent. One big free agent signing is not going to make a significant difference on this team. We need a new front office that is experienced and can present a plan to Tom P. of how best to use the resources and ask for a reasonable budget. Unless there are changes to the CBA to think the payroll budget will go up more than $30 to $40m in one year is not going to happen despite what Tom said. And it may go up that much and may not need to if they decide to go young and fill in the holes with free agents in 2028.

I will clarify because you are correct, they should start spring training as starters and others have to outpitch them. This is more in a reaction to others who keep saying Abel should be in the rotation. So far in a very small sample size he has had only a couple of good starts. Whereas Matthews and Preliepp have performed well this year and Abel should have to outperform to get a spot.

Lewis had a down stretch in July after the all star break and now again the last 10 days. To say his hot streak was only a few weeks is not a fair statement. And how can you judge his play at 1B, he is learning it on the fly. It took Mauer a couple of years to get comfortable and master the position. As for Lee, I agree with you.
  8. HarmonK03
Clemens should be a utility player that they are playing every day and hitting in the middle of the lineup.
  9. HarmonK03
They will be better off to non tender Larnach, if he gets the projected $7-$8m in arbitration, not many teams will take him. It's a sunk cost time, if he's not part of the future, then just move on.

First we have no idea of the direction of the team, because they need to figure out a lot things. And one of those is get more athletic, why sacrifice that for a league average DH. Bell has done ok, but it's not like he is elite or outstanding. And based on his history will he be able to repeat his production.
  11. HarmonK03
    Why
  12. HarmonK03
I have said multiple times, Tom P. needs to walk across the street. Tim C. is willing to make moves to make the team better even if it is not the conventional move.
  13. HarmonK03
I don't disagree with that, but he will here for two more years, so we don't need to go search for a fringe to fill some vague role because they are good in the clubhouse.
  14. HarmonK03
Why don't you look at Matthew's results for the season, he has had 15 good starts out of 18 and is averaging almost 6 innings a start. And he keeps his team in almost every game. And he has gotten stronger in August. And good job of cherry picking stats on Lewis. Yes he has struggled the last two weeks of August but still has a batting ave of .277 and OPS of .708. And he has been one of our top hitters since coming back from St. Paul. Yet Clemens who has been ice cold the month keeps hitting in the middle of the order.
  15. HarmonK03
You have Buxton and Clemens as vets, let's get talent on the team. The first thing they need to do is figure out their identity. Do they want to be more athletic, then Bell definitely should be nowhere this team. But they need new leadership in the front office that can define a plan and execute it. Then you decide which players fit and which don't.
  16. HarmonK03
Prielipp and Matthews have earned the right to be in the rotation next year until someone shows they are better. Kremer or Ober if they are on the roster should be pitching out of the bullpen. Just because we traded for Kremer, he should not be handed a spot.
  17. HarmonK03
We need a new front office that will stop the musical chairs. If Culpepper has to move off short, it should be 2B, Lee has earned 3B. No moving him and Culpepper around.
  18. HarmonK03
You don't bring the tying run to the plate. It was the right call to pitch to him.
  19. HarmonK03
He's only blown up in three starts out of 18 and two of those were in his first six starts. But I agree he needs to start spring training in the rotation, if Abel or Rojas can beat him out in spring training, great. But he has earned a spot.
  20. HarmonK03
I will take what I have heard directly from Buxton, he has been pretty adamant about wanting to play with one team his whole career.
  21. HarmonK03
    You can't trade Buxton.
  22. HarmonK03
In fairness, I think that came from the Houston side, normally trades that fall thru like this don't get leaked.
  23. HarmonK03
He has done the unforgivable in a Twins lineup, he is going thru a slump for the last two weeks. For August he has an average of .286 and OPS of .729 but he is the one that gets moved down in the lineup. Clemens has been slumping the whole month of August and he keeps hitting 3 or 4. Move up Culpepper and Jenkins, Jeffers should slide down in the order as well. I am guessing we are going to see a lot of Gonzalez at 1B for Lewis starting next week. I am on the trade Lewis train officially. The team has lost trust in him, I don't agree that it is completely warranted but they have, they need to get a fresh start same as with Wallner.
  24. HarmonK03
Buxton-NTC, has said he wants to be here, until that changes he isn't going anywhere.
  25. HarmonK03
And he is going to figure out what has plagued him the 3rd time through the order by basically facing the order 1 time, ok got it.
