How many more wins will Arcia really mean for this team, maybe two and that is being generous. So we would be at 70 wins instead of 68. He has done nothing in the major leagues the last two years, why do you think he had to settle for a minor league contract this offseason. The love for the aged vets with either no track record or recent success is unbelievable. And yes I know he is doing better in St. Paul against lesser competition in a hitters league. Let's raise the bar at some point and expect some real quality play.

Brewers (Gasser) vs Twins (Ober): 5/17/26, 1:10pm

So Outman has a couple of good games and Larnach has consistently been providing quality AB's all season. And yet who sits today, Larnach should be in there over Outman. This organization shows no confidence in the players they develop, in smaller or larger decisions. Having Clemens hitting 4th is just desperation. -
The concern is if they put in Arcia, he will be in there for more than a few weeks regardless of production. Zoll seems to be like Falvey in that they won't move on from under performing vets. Outman did not earn a spot on the roster coming out of spring training it was only because he was out of options that he made the team and I believe he had been traded for. The bullpen is not consistently get the job done regardless, they need at least two or three guys they can count on the majority of the time and they have none currently. Even if they can somehow make the playoffs as a wild card, they will be overmatched against any team they face. This team is not in a spot to have a sustainable run of success, the only area that looks promising is starting pitching. Start now trying to figure out the other pieces needed to move this organization forward. And the AAAA types and underwhelming aging vets are not going to part any success moving forward, stop giving them AB's and innings pitched. If I am going to see failure, I would rather see it from Sabato then Bell for example. At least you know what you have going forward and can make the appropriate decisions for next season. Right now, they will be dumpster diving again because they won't trust the players they have developed.

Outman, should have sat on 3B until the ball was either caught or dropped in. By taking a few steps off he had no chance to tag and could have easily scored if the ball dropped in front of the fielder. Right now Lewis is the favorite whipping boy, but there are bad AB's being taken throughout the lineup on a daily basis. He is hard to defend but he is not the only problem. And Arcia or Kreidler are not the answer, if you make a change call up Culpepper. We are not a true wild card team with this roster, they are fooling themselves if they think are. Lewis was not a pull hitter when he first came up, this organization tried to change everyone into a let it rip and pull the ball type of hitter. Martin and Lee went back to who they are, hopefully Lewis figures it out too, but I am starting to think it will be with another team if it happens. This organization needs a review from the top down and Zoll needs to go to let a fresh perspective give this insight into what is working and what isn't in the organization. And at this point I wouldn't wait for the end of the season. What they are doing isn't working.

Average glove -
The Nationals could get no one to take him from them last year, he is now a year older, what makes you think there is more interest this year than last year. And with only 4 bench players, you need players who can play. Especially with Outman already sitting there and not playing.

Bell's track record is not one that shows he will right himself. Last year at the deadline the Nationals found no takers for him, so I wouldn't count on a trade this year. Clemens is still barely playable, he will have a stretch here and there where he shows he is competent just like last year. We just have no other options. Lewis and Wallner have more potential upside so they should get more leash to see if they can be a part of the core going forward. Wallner probably isn't at this point and he definitely needs a change of scenery. Lewis, I would give another month before making any move unless it is for Culpepper. But Bell definitely does not have a future and they should cut bait with him now. Teams do this all the time with underperforming veterans with millions still owed including Milwaukee. This organization will never admit fault, I thought it was only Falvey but it apparently is the culture he built.

And don't worry about eating the salary, that is the biggest barrier to removing Bell in the Twins view.

What is the true goal of this organization, if they think they can truly contend for the division then having Arcia on the roster can make sense to see if his numbers in St. Paul are a mirage or not They keep riding the fence and we truly don't know is it Zoll convincing TP that they can contend or is TP pushing down. We know the words TP has said but we don't know what is his reasoning or will we know. I don't think this team can contend and that should be driving the decisions being made going forward. And then that would not include bringing up Arcia. If you want to send Lewis down, bring up Culpepper and move Lee to third. Start looking at the other guys in St. Paul, find out what you have. I remember when the White Sox sold at the trade deadline, I don't remember the year but it wasn't too long ago and they were still reasonably in the wild card hunt at the time. They took a reasonable look at their organization and decided that they were not a contending team and made the appropriate moves to rebuild. IMHO the Twins need to do this as well. But I don't think Zoll is the one to lead the rebuild, that is the problem. They need to look for players and stop focusing so heavily on versatility and get quality players that can play. The rest will work itself out.

They keep running Bell out there and batting him fourth, I know there aren't many options but he just isn't getting the job done. And this should come as no surprise. -

There was nothing wrong with his positioning, the runner had space, he just didn't get his foot all the way over. The bashing of Lewis while some is deserved is getting over the top. -
Morris if used in a one inning role will be effective. Gomez has pitched 2 innings, let's see what he can do, at least he is younger. Rojas is the long man and will be the first to go back to St. Paul when he either throws too many pitches or they need another fresh arm. The 30 somethings are all basically cooked and it had nothing to do with the weather, they are not going to get major league hitters out on a consistent basis at this point in their careers. The reality is they did nothing to rebuild the bullpen and they are not taking any actions to develop any relievers in the minor leagues either with every one pitching bulk roles. So we will have to hope some waiver wire claim will stake a role in the bullpen but that is a low percentage of happening.

Don't hold out hope for Bell to be traded. Washington tried that last year and no one wanted him, he does not have much value around the league. Outman's role is not needed for a team in the Twins spot. They need 13 position players to contribute in all facets of the game.

Twins (Matthews) vs Marlins (TBD): 4/14/26, 12:40 pm CDT

I am glad Outman is having a good game, but one game should not dictate more playing time. He has done nothing to earn it, this is what a bench player should do, help the team when you get a chance. Morny stating that Shelton said he might get more time with Wallner going down, then I want Wallner back over Outman. -

You have a 6 run lead, go at the hitter, don't nibble, I like it. -

Outman has his first RBI of the season, that should buy him another two months on the roster. -

Come on Bell, help your believers out and give them reason to continue justifying your spot on the roster. -

And yet no one wanted him last year at the deadline, so I would not hold out hope we will have any better luck. -

He's almost 34 years old, he is who he is, a streaky hitter who is probably on the downside of his career. And no demotion even if possible is going to fix that. -
I do not want to see Gray, Kreidler and Clemens all on the same roster. That is three utility players with limited upside. Let's push for quality not quantity.

It is hard to defend Lewis and his play right now. But Arcia is putting up good numbers in a hitter's league and lesser competition. He has had very pedestrian stats the last few years in the major leagues. So he might be an upgrade, I am not sure how much of one. I also would only move Lee for Culpepper. If Arcia or one of the AAAA guys moves into the starting lineup, it needs to be at 3B and not SS.
