That's a great idea, take your hottest hitter out of the lineup.

He's been doing it all year, he's only been blown up twice. I think we have forgotten how bad Sim and what an improvement he has been.

And not great contact, it just feels like everyone is trying to find reasons for Matthews to fail but yet his results are there and that seems to be forgotten.

Six singles, a couple of those infield hits, I think he is doing ok.

He has improved on this and he has been swinging at pitches in the zone tonight.

Pablo has chosen to travel with the team this year while rehabbing, it helps keep him engaged. I think it is great that he has chosen to still be part of the team. Most players in his situation, the other players rarely see.

Well he is in his comfort zone, a minor league stadium.

And most games is keeping his team in the game, exactly what you want from your #4 or #5 starter.

He has a hip ailment, that I don't think they are denying that. They are hoping that treatment will allow him to play thru it. The definition of playing thru it is different depending on who you ask. Personally I want him to be able to use his legs as a weapon most of the time not just periodically. But if he can play and feels he can play the team is not going to put him on the IL unless a doctor says differently. Whether we agree with it, Buxton has to be on board with any decision to put him on the 10 day IL unless a doctor says he is unable to play.

Alex Jackson will be firmly entrenched as the starter, so there won't be a spot for him, probably until 2030 or 31.

I have no reason to not believe Buxton when he says he wants to play with one team his whole career. He saw the impact of that for Mauer and he seems to want the same. Buxton seems to be genuine and there is no spin in his speech. I know others do, but I am only referring to this one situation. So if you want to believe it, go for it.

He has already said he wants to be here, so my guess is all those factors were considered. This is just beating a dead horse until there is new reporting saying something different.

You can't trade him unless he approves and he has said he won't.

If they haven't announced a move by now, one won't be happening. And since they are on the west coast, I doubt they will fly anyone out there for two games unless there is an injury. My guess there will be no moves until next Tuesday. They are basically waving the white flag on the season even though they won't admit it.

If Buxton is not on the IL, he is going to be in the lineup. If they aren't going to take AB's from Larnach for Jenkins they sure won't do it to Buxton. He is obviously not 100% and the hip injury is not going to be completely healed until the offseason with rest. He is very clearly managing how he plays so as to not aggravate it further. If he was hitting better, we would probably have more patience with not taking the extra base or the double play balls. They need to decide can he play with the hip injury as it is, but Buxton has to buy in. As frustrated as we are with his injuries he is still the face of the franchise and they are not going to force something on him that he is not in agreement with, whether we agree with that or not. He is going to be here for two more years unless something drastic changes. I am going to enjoy the time he is on the field and hope he can play more games. But this is one reason you really need Jenkins up here because then you have a viable plan if Buxton gets injured again next year.

When Jenkins comes up, it can't be a platoon, put him in the lineup and let him go.

He could just as easily be a non-tender candidate in the offseason. I am not sure if you sign him to the numbers being thrown around that there would be as much interest for him. It might be best to go the Rosario route and non-tender if you determine he is not part of the 27 team.

It was a 7 run game, typical to give a bench player an at bat in that situation. And remember he can not be traded so we need to accept that fact because he is here until his contract is up unless he changes his mind.

You can't just put someone on the IL, there has to be a verifiable injury, we all know that. And they are not going to sit him, he is the most talented player on the team. And yes it stinks about the injuries he has had. But he is going to be the focal point of this team until either Jenkins comes up and is able to have the mantle passed to him if he becomes the player they hope or they sign another superstar free agent.
