Yes Jackson has had a couple of good moments. But he is almost 31, you can't ignore his past, he is a journeyman catcher that can be replaced in the offseason.

Why would you keep Jackson over Martin, we can find another backup catcher in the offseason. I want the team to be better this year. And Martin offers to the team than Jackson this year.

I agree with most of this, but where I disagree is you keep Lewis at first every day. Either Clemens second or Keaschall but as you point out Lewis has been hitting. Let him get comfortable at one position and you don't replace him with Clemens except for a day off.

Why would you make Jenkins the 4th outfielder. There are enough AB's to go around for 4 outfielders. I would prefer they send Jackson packing when Buxton is back due to the flexibility it gives the roster.

That's not what you originally said, so not sure where you trying to get to. But I will be very clear, Kreidler should be the 13th player on the bench and forced into the lineup like they have done with Caratini. He is a defensive replacement and maybe starts once a week.

I still think Martin is better in that role. Roden has had three bites at the apple and has not done anything with any of those chances. Martin has had some success especially when he was more of a role play instead of playing every day. Not sure what everyone sees in Roden, other than we traded for him. Not sure we will agree on this one.

I am not ready to replace Martin with Roden. Roden has done even less than Martin.

How about putting the best player in there. Keaschall has been hitting over .300 since May and Kreidler is not Gold Glove level to make for that big of a difference. Keaschall can hit righties, the obsession over platooning is insane and leads to this type of lineup configuration.

So you are going to have Kreidler in the lineup over Keaschall, in what world does that make the team better overall.

Both sides have huge egos. But I don't think serious negotiations will begin until February or March when checks start getting missed. That is why we may miss a few weeks but I don't think it will be long, there is too much money involved on both sides.

Who plays 2B. And why would you platoon Keaschall, he has been hitting over .300 since May and you want to play him a quarter of the time.

It is time to move on from Roden, he has not grabbed hold of any of the three opportunities given to him. Yes he hit a double yesterday, I am sure most AAAA guys can do this at some point during a stint in the majors. Revocable waivers were eliminated in 2019 when they changed the trade rules.

One additional point if Royce continues his pace from June 6, over a season he would hit over 30 HR's. Now I get we need to see it for a longer period of time. I am becoming more convinced you give him 27 to see if he can figure it and move forward. Now if he falls off the last two months of the season, then that would be a different discussion.

Kreidler can fill in when someone needs a day off or as a defensive replacement. Let's not go looking to force him into the lineup like they are doing with Caratini. Kreidler is the one who should be the 13th man on the bench.

Why would you send Martin down over Roden, who has been more productive.

Kreidler is average in CF, he may be better defensively than Keaschall, his lack of hitting does not overcome the difference. We have a CF in St. Paul if they are that concerned with Keaschall then Jenkins needs to be up as well. Kreidler is not the answer.

I really hope they don't move him around, that is Kreidler's role.

The rush would be if they are going to act as contenders than you make these moves instead of keeping Gray, Roden or Jackson on the roster. Now I know Culpepper just called up so that is a good start.

That is not true, you can get 4 outfielders regular AB's very easily, managers do it all the time. And Bell doesn't need to play every day, there are AB's available at DH as well. And when you have 4 quality outfielders, one may be available to pinch hit later in the game, an actual quality batter, rather than just a platoon move for the sake of it.

How about we raise the floor and have a 13th player that can contribute something. Like KC does with Tolbert.

I don't necessarily disagree, but the team says they are contenders and have made moves that they think support that. So why only go halfway, either act like a contender or don't. Jenkins can play more than CF, Buxton's status should have no impact on this decision.

If they are contenders which they are claiming they are, then they need to be up here. There is no reason to wait, this b.s. about August 15th is not what a contending team would be doing.

Per Gleeman, Jenkins slash line for the last 30 games since returning .303/.366/.521. For those wanting to see a sustained run, I think we are seeing it. There is no reason he shouldn't be in the lineup in Milwaukee tonight.

I just don't understand the fascination with keeping him on the roster and fear for next year. In some ways I would rather have Jackson than Caratini but because of contracts that's not going to happen. He is not a young prospect, there will be plenty of similar players with his background available in the offseason if we can't slip him thru waivers. Why are we willing to play one player short this season for this low amount of risk. He pinch ran for Bell last night, is that really the best use you can do, using your third catcher. And if we needed another pinch hitter we were out of options because we are playing with a short bench.

What has he done this year in his 66 AB's. He will be 31 next year and has a career ave of .174 and OPS of .557. He has contributed when called upon, but there are always journeyman catchers available in the offseason. He is the easiest option to replace in the offseason. Why do we play short this year just so we can have a backup catcher for next year. This to me is one of many examples of why Zoll needs to go.
