  1. It is interesting that they didn't sub in Roden for Martin, I mean he is an outfielder and I thought his defense above average. They thought enough of his defense to play in CF last year and in spring training. So if he isn't coming in this situation why is he on this roster. They need to get players on the roster that either Shelty trusts to play or tell him he has to play them. This process of just not using players is truly mind boggling.
  2. If we are going to keep advocating playing guys that are fringe or playing role players every day we will always be a .500 team. So either upgrade the talent or go young and put Ross in there and take your lumps. Maybe it pays off in future years at least. I see comments all the time that Clemens should play 2B or a corner OF next year. His role is not as a starter, it is a role player. I find it ironic his and Lee's stats are pretty similar, yet many question whether Lee hits enough to be a regular but yet Clemens does. Bottom line, upgrade the talent.
  3. I looked at stats that were not updated with todays results from baseball ref. MLB stats are updated in real time, baseball ref stats aren't.
  4. I was looking at stats coming into today, not after his last AB.
  5. I am not hating him, I am stating reality. What is our record with him hitting primarily in the middle of the order this year, we are a sub .500 team. He has a role on a team, but it is not a middle of the order bat playing every day.
  6. I was counting coming into today. But if you defend him hitting in the #4 spot, you go ahead. But this is why this team is a sub .500 and remain one. Clemens is not a cornerstone player they are treating him. He will have a couple of good months same as last year and when he slumps, he slumps badly. He needs to play three to four days a week that is where he will be most successful in helping a team win.
  7. That's revisionist thinking but go ahead and remember anyway you want.
  8. He's actually 4 homeruns and two were in the same game on July 18th almost a month ago. So yes he has been in a slump.
  9. I have no idea what you are looking at, 4th in OPS coming into today, and 8th in batting average, His stats are almost similar to Lee's and yet Lee gets bounced around anywhere from 2nd to 8th in the order. Yet Clemens is batting 4th even in the middle of a massive slump. Hopefully he is breaking out, but I want it in more than one game.
  10. Just like Arraez should never play 2B again, seem I heard that before.
  11. He is a competitor and wants to help the team, you can't blame him for wanting to help the team. He has at least improved the defense in CF. But yes he needs to pick up the pace on offense.
  12. He needed to do this to start earning his playing time, the last 28 days, he has a .172 ave and .536 OPS, you need more from your clean up hitter at a minimum. Lee gets dropped in the order after one bad game. Hopefully Clemens builds off this, because he has not been a positive contributor on offense for the last month.
  13. He has been our best hitter for the last month and a half. And he has played 19 games in RF. Maybe show some patience because we are going to win more games with Luke in the lineup than without.
  14. I agree, he needs to be dropped down until he starts hitting again. Is this team serious about winning or not.
  15. That is because you don't want to see the lack of roster options due to his being on the roster left Shelty with no options at the end of more than a few games.
  16. We should try and upgrade over Kreidler for an utility infielder, his defense is not enough to compensate for his bat.
  17. Houston won't be up until 2029 at the earliest, he will need to have an OPS of at least .990 and show he can hit 25 HR's before he will be deemed ready.
  18. Kreidler and Roden are two easy moves that can be made. Call up Jenkins and Sabato to play against lefties. Lee can spell Culpepper at short or even call up Ross instead of Sabato. Martin has looked better and right now he is only going to start against lefties. They made their choice on Friday with Caratini, what I am waiting to see if they really are going to go with him as their top catcher next year. That could be a disaster because he is not going to duplicate his June again.
  19. Well Lewis has only played there when they want Caratini at 1B, currently that is not his position and he has been ok there. They really need to call up Jenkins and play Keaschall there a few games a week with Clemens. Then figure out the position over the offseason.
  20. Honestly how many more prospects do you want. At some point you have to develop these prospects in to players in the major leagues either by promotion or trade. And except for a few pitchers, we have not done this. This organization has very little faith in our minor league on the position side and is reluctant to call up anyone unless forced to by circumstances. Just getting more prospects isn't going to help this team this year or 2028 and beyond if they don't change how they operate.
  21. They could have traded for more LH hitting corner outfielders, you can never have too many.
  22. It's the safe way, I said in a post earlier this week, Zoll needs to walk over to Target Center and talk to Connelly about how to build a winning team. His philosophy is if I am going to get fired, I am going down swinging for the fences, that is a paraphrase but that was the meaning.
  23. It would be too much sense and take playing time away from Gray. They need Gray ready to come up here and help the big club.
