  1. The obsession with a RH bat continues. Let's get quality players on the roster, not more dumpster diving if we are truly trying to win.
  2. I like Jackson but he is a journeyman back up catcher, if we lose him, there will plenty to choose from next offseason to take his place. Having three catchers is just mismanagement of the roster with these three and does not help the team win. That is supposed to be the objective I thought.
  3. Bell has a one year deal, so they need to run as far as they can from any more deals. No more half measures. Back to my original question, if we had real reporters in this town they would be asking why Gray is on the roster. We are back to the half measures, actions speak louder than words.
  4. Any small difference is not made up by the lack of defense from Bell.
  5. Gray and carrying 3 catchers is not a good roster configuration. Gray is not even a major league player at this point, you fit in Jackson into the lineup but is he a better option than who you are sitting. If they are contenders they should get the best 13 position players up here. Prove to us they think they are contenders. Bell is not going anywhere which I don't agree but he is here to stay.
  6. Did any of the beat reporters ask how long they plan on going short two guys on the bench.
  7. You would seriously play Bell in the field and sit Lewis as well. That makes no sense, hopefully they have burned Bell's glove.
  8. Is Hoffman going to be available, I haven't seen a move of anyone being sent down.
  9. Wow, pretty bold statement, considering a lot of the post was opinion.
  10. It was two weeks before spring training that is a tough time to try and hire a replacement. What I wish he would have done is give Zoll more of an interim title. But the roster was already set for the year so it was hard to bring in somebody new at that point. I do wish he would have brought a senior advisor to help guide Zoll at some point early in the season. Where I blame the Pohlads is they waited too long to resolve the ownership issue. It needed to be done in October so they could have had better direction for the offseason. One thing that is being missed in the Pohlad/Falvey discussion is Joe was the first Pohlad to have an office in the Twins offices and actually worked there in marketing. I believe Joe and Tom had developed a relationship that was more than just typical boss/employee from when Joe was not the owner in charge based on comments Falvey has made in the past. So it appears this change goes deeper than just differences in how to proceed. And Falvey did lose some power by having the business removed from his portfolio, that is not always an easy pill to swallow. As for the rebuild, Falvey did not act like he was in a full rebuild last offseason before Tom took over. You don't sign Bell and Caratini if you are in rebuild mode. That is a narrative that continues but Falvey has been the one doing half measures ever since he took over. There never was a clear plan and at some point he needs to be the one to be held accountable as well. Whether the owners supported him or not but you still have to have a plan.
  11. It's a wasted roster spot so you are playing short.
  12. When a front office calls Gray back up after his dismal performance it is pretty easy to be confused by their actions. That move does not strengthen a team in contention.
  13. I mean he is the owner so acting in his self interests is what most owners do. I am not sure I would consider what they did at the deadline as buying. They added two relief pitchers which needed to be done regardless. And we will see with Kremer what he brings. We don't know which version we are getting yet. But the way he is pitching this year he is not an upgrade. We don't know the plan presented to him either by Falvey or Zoll and if he agreed to it or not. Falvey wasn't like he was in teardown mode before Tom P. took over in mid-December. None of us know what happened behind the scenes. But we have seen the inability of Falvey and Zoll to build a sustainable winning team over the last 10 years.
  14. If they keep him, they need to bring someone in over him, whatever title you want to give him. But he is not up to leading this organization, it is just Falvey 2.0.
  15. What proof do you have that Pohlad has told Zoll he wants a certain player over another player on the roster. Falvey is the one who signed Bell to play 1B, not DH and signed Caratini after they traded for Jackson. Maybe Zoll is in over his head which is why teams were confused.
  16. Well said, Zoll was not a passive bystander as some have portrayed him. We don't who he favored or who Falvey may have but Falvey was very upfront that he utilized a collaborative approach. And Zoll was his number 2 so of course his handprints are all over his roster. The first piece of business the day after their season ends is to say goodbye to Zoll.
  17. I would be fine with Jackson over Caratini, I just want one of them gone before tomorrow night.
  18. Hopefully he first spends on a real baseball executive to run the baseball operations.
  19. He's got 65 AB's, yes he has shown he could be a solid backup but's let not make him to be the next Joe Mauer.
  20. On September they will only be adding one position player. Again we need players on the bench who are going to contribute.
  21. If you are truly contending I don't think it is. You need a bench that will contribute, trying to play Jackson at 1B is not the answer. I do like Jackson but Zoll really needed to move one of the catchers and didn't do it.
