    What is the fascination with playing Caratini at first. If you are going to play Clemens against lefties, keep the infield positions the same, If Keaschall is out because of injury then it makes more sense, but if not stop trying to so hard to get him in the lineup. His bat is not that strong that justifies it.

    The later transaction is the rehab assignment, so do they consider him on the active roster when he is on a rehab assignment.

    He faced Detroit last outing, he hasn't faced KC this year. Still hasn't been good this year.

    Martin is actually having a good July and he is the definition of a bench piece, he has done better since moving starting every day. I would rather see Roden and Kreidler as the last two players on the bench until Buxton comes back. I am not going thru roster gymnastics just to keep Jackson on the roster, backup catcher is a position you can fill. This means bring up Culpepper and Jenkins.

    Clemens is not a replacement for Lewis yet. If Lewis keeps up what he has done since he came back he needs to be the first baseman next year. He has an OPS of .834 in the last 50 games, only Buxton and Jeffers are better. Yes I know he needs to finish the year strong but let him play 1B and get comfortable and see how he does.

    Or maybe this is why they traded for Kremer because they knew something was not right. Not every ache or pain turns into an injury. Maybe they knew there was discomfort and were still trying to figure how to treat it.

    Keep Jackson then until Buxton is back. You want a set up lineup for RH and LH. Get creative, good managers do that when you have quality options, as I said in my earlier post you don't have to play everybody 7 days a week. So get quality options up here even it means playing Wallner a couple of days in the outfield, he at least is a pinch hitting option. The team says they are contenders, I want them to act like it. This roster does not scream we are contenders. I have been saying all year I don't think they are but if they say they are then show it.

    He is slightly better than Kreidler, this is why you need to upgrade your roster so you have better options when needed.

    He has no role, that's the point. They are trying to force him in at 1B which weakens everything. I'd rather have someone up that would just be a pinch runner and defense type role if that's the way they are going. They are pinch hitting Caratini for someone most games and then playing musical chairs with the defense which is weakening the defense in the later innings. Every player doesn't have to play 7 days a week. You can have 4 outfielders that all could play 5 to 6 days a week, with the forth outfielder maybe playing 4 days a week. This is why the goal should be quality, quit worrying about what side plate they hit from. By rotating, you also strengthen your bench with better options to pinch hit when needed.

    Two doubles today and a triple last night with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI's doesn't sound like he is still recovering.

    He can stand out there, but we nearly had one collision a game with him there, he was not taking charge. And his bat is not good enough to be a regular.

    Caratini has fallen off the cliff hitting and is not a viable pinch hitter, so that option should be taken off the table.

    He is still on rehab, so he is not on the active roster yet.

    Kriedler is not a CF and can not hit enough. You would hold back Jenkins for Kriedler that makes no sense.

    You are forgetting about his stint with Toronto last year at the beginning of the season. He was horrible and was sent down. He may have missed his window, he is going to be 27 before next season, he is aging out of prospect territory.

    I am looking at both this year and the future. There are always catchers available that can be signed to be the backup for this year if needed and during the offseason if Jackson is claimed. He is not that irreplaceable. The Twins are saying they are contenders, it that is so you bring somebody up that might help you win that game or two as that may make the difference in the playoffs or not. They need to backup their talk with actions. Bringing up Jenkins and Culpepper can help this year and also starts the learning curve for them this year instead of next year. Other teams are not concerned about the potential lockout why are the Twins.

    Arcia is done, there are no teams interested in him. He would not be an improvement over Gray.

    Gray is what he is, he had a couple of good moments but he has always been a fringe type of guy. I don't understand all the love for Jackson, I do like him but he is replaceable and right now has no role so he should not be on the roster.

    Why would you play Kreidler over Culpepper, if he is called up he is the starter. And Kreidler can be the utility guy, that would be his best role.

    This is an awful narrow view. You have a 13 man roster, you should be using everyone in some fashion. Even if it is a pinch running/defense role. But it can cost you a game or two if you can't make a move because of lack of options. And right now there is no margin for error. Why are we so worried about a backup catcher, there are others out there, Jackson is not some young phenom he can be replaced. They are trying to find him playing time by playing out of position at first, that is not the action of a contender which they claim to be.

    Regarding Roden, I think it helps to remember he started the season last year with Toronto and hit .188 with an OPS of .541. He has three different stints and has not grabbed hold of any of these opportunities. There may be something there, but we options with more upside that need AB's over him.

    He has produced when called upon but if you are a contender you can't afford to roster a redshirt which is basically what they are making him. In the offseason there will be other journeyman catchers similar that will be available that can be signed to be the backup.

    Maybe not every team, but there are others. Cleveland and Cincy are two right off of the top.

    But yet every other team is doing exactly this, bringing up their top prospects in this environment. I don't think Zoll is smarter than everyone else, but maybe he is and I am missing it.
