  1. This team is going nowhere and they need to be honest about that internally. To keep giving AB's to these AAAA types is only keeping the team stuck in neutral going nowhere. They made the decision to have Lewis as their third baseman this year, either replace him with a meaningful upgrade or ride with him. I have lost patience with the team at this point, they need to know what they have in the younger players on both the position side and pitching side and make the necessary real improvements in the offseason.
  2. He will start and go three innings because he is not stretched out. Then it will probably Adams, then we will have the St. Paul shuttle to get some 30 something relievers up here.
  3. Now we are going to see the negative impact of this 4 x 4 plan. They have nobody ready to come up and give any length to replace Bradley. So it looks like Rojas will get the start and hopefully go 3 innings. Then probably Adams or Morris for 2 or 3 innings. Then the St. Paul shuttle will begin again because they will need arms in the bullpen. In the meantime they will continue to trot out Garcia, Banda and Topa.
  4. That is a very small sample size for Gray and Kreidler and they are not going to help us win any more than Lewis in the short term. So I would look at the long term and Lewis has a better chance of helping us in the long term. He was doing better before he went on the IL, I would roll with Lewis.
  5. While I agree with what the Guardians did, I don't think a Lewis move as you describe is comparable. The Guardians are bringing in a viable replacement for Naylor. If the Twins want to replace Lewis it needs to be with Culpepper not below replacement players like Kriedler or Gray.
  6. They have yet to commit Morris to a bullpen role. He has pitched nearly 3 innings or more in each of his outings. His last outing was his shortest but he probably should not have been used for another day. This is the whole point of the article, they will not commit any of these bulk guys including Morris to one role or another, they just keep straddling the fence.
  7. If they truly believe any of their bullpen pieces will have trade value then they should be fired immediately. It is one thing to state belief in them, what else are they are going to say. But if they truly believe there is value then we are in even worse shape then I thought. The longer they wait for the youth movement, the longer it will take to know what they have and this rebuild will be going into 2040. I don't really care what Shelton thinks, his job is to play the players given to him. If he truly thought this was going to be a team to compete when he took the job then he needs to be gone as well. They have to at least privately acknowledge where they are at regardless of what the standings say and take the appropriate steps to rebuild this team to a true contender.
  8. Why pitch to Ramirez in that situation, make Hoskins beat you.
  9. He actually challenged a pitch when hitting yesterday and they said he was successful 4 of 6 times when challenging as a hitter.
  10. I don't think Gasper will be catching for them, he is the third catcher on the roster. I just don't know what Caratini brings to this roster.
  11. Caratini is exactly what he has been his whole career, he is not a regular like they are trying to make him into. He will make a good play here and there but he is not a regular player. And on this roster with his salary he needs to be more of a difference maker than he is. That money would have been better spent on a relief pitcher.
  12. This was the plan before today, they only pitched him because they knew he was going down. They had plenty of other options to DFA someone to make room on the roster like Garcia but instead chose Roa to DFA. Klein was then the only option to go down. Garcia still might find the fountain of youth before September so we can't cut him loose.
  13. They are looking at Klein as a bulk guy, that was announced at the beginning of the year and that is how he is being used. So does that mean he is a reliever or starter.
  14. They signaled this move when they DFA'd Roa instead of Garcia, so you knew it was going to be Klein sent down. In a vacuum this signing does make some sense. But how many reclamation projects do you need. At what point are you going to give the young pitchers in St. Paul a chance. Or do they not believe in them because it feels like they have more belief in the scrap heap they keep choosing from. They have another 4 or 5 scrap heap types in St. Paul if they don't want to give the young kids a chance why not one of them. Garcia, Banda, and Topa for starters can all be left in DC along with Outman. It is not too early to start making changes so you know what you have for next year. The longer they wait, the more chances are that they go into next year uncertain again of what they have and what reinforcements they need.
  15. Lewis had an OPS of .822 before he went on the IL and he did show improvement the last half of 25. He has only back for 10 games, I think it is too early to give up on him.
  16. The manager was definitely part of the problem. But this organization needs a complete overhaul from the top down. I know everyone is down on the Pohlads. But Falvey left this organization a mess. He had no sustained success and he should have been booted last fall, that is what I blame the Pohlads for. There was minimal player development, a rigid adherence to platooning that led to a suboptimal roster from a talent standpoint, the a player can play anywhere theory, and of course no bullpen. My only hope is that Pohlad will bring in a real baseball executive who knows how to use all the tools, analytics, scouting and other metrics to build an organization. And insures there is staff to develop the players.
  17. They need to let Lewis play up here this year and see if he can be part of the future. He wasn't playing that poorly before he got hurt, he has come back slow. There are no legitimate options to play in place of Lewis other than Culpepper. I wouldn't replace him with a AAAA vet, that doesn't help the team long term.
  18. I like having Wallner in there, see if he can continue to build off his last couple of games. I am not sure about sitting Lewis again, Gray is no more than replacement level. They need to see if he can work thru his struggles. We are not going anywhere this year.
  19. At some point, have some belief in the arms that you have developed as well. If this move is at the expense of Klein then I really don't know what they are doing. They have plenty of reclamation projects, move on from one of them if you make this move.
  20. He's not going to St. Paul, he will be in Cleveland tomorrow night.
  21. But how many reclamation projects do they need, they have 5 or 6 already in St. Paul and a couple on the major league roster. Churn thru those first rather than constantly acquiring more of the same.
  22. If that is true, why the need to trade for this guy. They are going to keep rotating in the AAAA types and washed up vets, I don't see much changing there.
  23. It will be probably be Klein that they send down. We can't have enough 30 something relievers that are washed up.
  24. I believe it was Falvey that advocated for the signing of Correa both times, the Pohlads just signed off on it. Whether they had to send money to complete the trade is unknown but I am not sure there was a huge market for Correa with that contract.
