  1. I really think there will be progression toward the norm for most of these below .200 hitters. In order to bat .240 for the season, they will have to hit .300+ for 2 months and .240 for 2 months.I feel a surge coming on.
  2. I said it before, and I'll say it again...Twins will be in 1st place by July 4th.
  3. These problems will be solved with some games against the Detroit Kittens, the Chicago Faded Socks, and the Kansas City Commoners. Hang in there until July when Santana and Polanco and maybe May and hopefully Mauer return and I predict the Twins will be in first place by July 4th, 2018.
  4. Great article. I hope Miguel Sano reads it, and reads it again, thinks long and hard about what the article is saying to him, and then talks to someone he respects, who will be honest with him...not just someone who tells Miguel what Miguel wants to hear.
  5. I would like to see more passion while the player is still in the game.
  6. I'll swallow my pride for a lot less than $5,000,000...but then I'm not Lance Lynn.
  7. He seems to be an adequate first baseman. Made 2 nice picks of bounced throws late in last night's victory. If LoMo were not at 1B, who would be playing 1B tonight since Mauer is hurt and Garver is needed at catcher with Castro out for the season? The answer is...?
  8. The bad news for Phil Hughes is that he has been released. The good news is that such a nice article can be written by Nick about a nice man who gave it his best, had a tough series of injuries, but kept trying. He never gave up. There's a lot to be said for that. Hughes made enough money to live like a king the rest of his life. That, to me sounds like a lot of "good news" for Phil Hughes. I want to say to Phil Hughes: "Good luck to you, Phil ,and I hope your "after baseball life" is a long and happy one. Thank you for your dedication and effort. Thank you for your tweet."
  9. "Confidence is contagious. So is lack of confidence. " Vince Lombardi. The Twins have been without their starting SS, 3B, CF and #1 starting pitcher from last year's team, all of whom were slated to start at their respective positions this year. Now the starting C and 1B are out with injuries. Not many teams will play .500 ball with these losses to key position players plus the #1 starting pitcher. My feeling is that the Twins have done about as well as can be expected with these confidence crushing losses of personnel. Polanco, Sano, Buck, Santana, Mauer (hopefully) will all be back and each return will build confidence. As long as the Twins can cling to Cleveland's coattails another month, I really think we will take off in July. Our schedule looks favorable. Lynn was a good signing based on available stats, but Lynn just has not panned out. However, Lynn is not the only, nor the main, problem here. When Santana returns to the rotation, one of the "Big Five" must be removed anyway. I'm glad it will be Lynn instead of any of the other 4. This is a team game and we've been without almost two thirds of what was scheduled to be our opening day starting lineup. It's a wonder the Twins haven't totally given up mentally. It's a wonder I haven't also. But as for me, those early years in the 50's and 60's as a Washington Senators' fan have steeled my resolve. "Keep calm and carry on".
  10. Way to go Lurch. Keep fighting. I'm sure I speak for all of the TD family when I say we are pulling for you. Good news on Lewis, Gordon, Littell and Busenitz. I'm afraid the Twins must do something to remove Hughes from the roster, but I don't know what the best move for the Twins would be "financially" regarding his contract. It is what it is.
  11. "The Stone Crabs kept clawing their way back into the game." Nicely done Ted.
  12. Polanco will be the SS when he gets back at mid-season. I wonder how long it will take Polanco to get up to speed once he returns. I really think that is part of Lynn's current problems...he missed spring training and his yin is not lined up with his yang.
  13. In addition EE is a plus in the clubhouse (I have read). Forward thinking article. I like it.
  14. This post made me laugh out loud...and it is 4 in the morning. I can go back to bed now.
  15. If 30 more sign up with the Air Force Academy that will cost US taxpayers 30 x $100,000 for the cost of 4 years at this elite academy...which is $3,000,000 for their educations then $50,000 per year for these 30 to play baseball while in the US Air Force. That's $1,500,000 more tax dollars to pay these "world class athletes" to play baseball for 1 year. 4 years of this would be $6,000,000. Add that to the cost of the education and you get a grand total of $9,000,000 for these 30 "world class athletes" to do what Griffin Jax will be doing, minus his 1 year of actual service in the military. Let's hope these 30 don't each attract 30 more world class athletes to attend the Air Force Academy.
