  1. I say it's almost 50% likely that they hold Walker back in Fort Myers to start the year. I wouldn't agree with that move, but whatever. I do think there is room on the roster to work everybody in for Chatty. Buxton (CF), Polanco (SS), Sano (3B), Walker (RF), Rosario (LF), Kepler (1B), Harrison (DH), Turner ©, Michael (2B). Dalton Hicks gets time at 1B and DH, Harrison gets LF and 1B time, Kepler OF time, Rosario some time at 2B still, etc. The other position players are . . . Matt Koch, maybe Michael Gonzales (AAA?), and a couple others (I imagine Kvasnicka and Rodriguez move to AAA). The rotation looks like Berrios, Lee, and Wimmers for sure.
  2. While I think it is silly to say that any one player is "most key" for a team, I think it is true about Nolasco when it comes to how the pitching shapes up. I fully expect Hughes and Santana to be good-to-very good and Gibson to be above average. Nolasco pulling it together and having even an average season for him would mean a lot.
  3. Yeah I meant trading Pekovic next season to get a pick the following year. I don't know . . . I really like both Pekovic and Dieng. That duo could work out together a bit more with more practice, I think. At least for a little bit. It would have worked better with Brewer then playing at the three defensively . . . The entire Rubio saga is an embarrassment for this team. And I like the guy, but still. Damn. If I had time to analyze sports other than baseball more deeply, I would do a draft analysis for the league. I cannot imagine a more horrible team at drafting and developing players than the T-Wolves. And that is *from the beginning* somehow.
  4. I didn't even hear about the Payne trade. I actually like him and thought the Wolves should have found a way to draft him. But still. Trading away picks is not a good idea right now. Gary Neal is terrible. K-Mart needs to be traded to the Bulls or somebody.
  5. I am happy that Cleveland is turning it around. I agree with kab21, I think the way the Wolves dealt with Love was just terrible. Tacky is a good word. Now they have Wiggins, Dieng, and several injury-prone guys. Maybe Zach and Shabazz can get better and get consistent. Pekovic is pretty key, but might also be worth trying to score another top pick in the 2016 draft via trade (especially after Dieng's growth and the drafting of Okafor or Cauley-Stein (top two, in my view).
  6. Twins fans and the organization itself get too worried about high walk rates for gas throwing pitchers and high strikeout rates for power hitters. Full stop.
  7. Berrios, Lee, Wimmers. I hope Duffey and Rogers just start in AAA. Maybe the Twins try Matt Summers back in the rotation. I guess there's Hermsen too, though the thought of him starting again is comical. Maybe they keep Jason Adam there for awhile. Other than that, maybe Tim Shibuya.
  8. I think he should be in the Twins bullpen to open the season, then sent to stretch out in Rochester for a bit, and be up starting for the Twins the entire second half of the season.
  9. I would be so happy for him if he was able to get a full season rolling properly. I guess that answers the question about one starting option for Chattanooga other than Berrios and Lee.
  10. I doubt there will be any significant offensive regression overall. I just don't see that happening for a couple years. I do not want his defense to continue to decline (still good in 2014, but 2013 was pretty great). The thing I really like about Dozier--and the eye test is necessary here--is his ability to take the extra base or make uniquely smart decisions in the field. He has his "head in the game" more than any other Twins player I can think of in recent memory.
  11. It is so greatly improved from before that I don't really care. I do get curious about things like number of comments and views, so sorting by those things might be interesting. Oh . . . and there is the whole issue about getting blog posts promoted to become articles. Ahem . . .
  12. What?? Isn't that, like, weird? How many players from other orgs are around, then? Anyway, I find the comments about Rosario interesting. What the hell? The guy is oh so close to getting there and yet he can't see the value in showing some effort? Even playing as a kid I never understood those few teammates who didn't hustle and moreso were *clearly* lazy as hell.
  13. Has Lewis Thorpe not been mentioned in the discussion? How!? His health is crucial right now. If he overcomes this injury without losing a season, he instantly becomes a top 5-7 prospect.
  14. The truth is that very few organizations would have a Meyer and not put him in the starting rotation to start 2015.
  15. Pedro Guerra seemed like a good prospect. Also, I did start ranking Pinto after 2011, though I don't think it was public at that point.
  16. Kepler without this last AFL showing is probably ranked lower. He has shown that he can hit and be an overall threat offensively. It's just a slightly different timetable.
  17. Thanks. There is a lot of misinformation out there about this. I don't remember any talk about this at the end of 2013 when they were added.
  18. I think Gonsalves has his fastball and a changeup already. Maybe I am wrong.
  19. Also, if Pelfrey makes the team as anything other than a reliever, I will be shocked. And disgusted. It's unfathomable to me that he is a 20% contender for the fifth spot. I mean, good lord. Even before adding Santana, that seemed ridiculous. Now? Wow. It will be terrible if Pelfrey outperforms May and Milone in ST and the Twins roll with that.
  20. That bullpen is crowded after adding Stauffer and Graham, while keeping in mind Pressly as well. I would absolutely like May to be the fifth starter, Milone to be traded, and Meyer to start in the bullpen for awhile. I don't think it will work out that way, though.
  21. Rogers dwarfs the likes of DeVries. And I wasn't initially high on Rogers at all. He still might end up being an improved Brian Duensing, but whatever. I hope they push Walker to AA. Angel Morales stagnated big time in Fort Myers and the Twins waited too long to push him through to see if he could adjust and move on well. Gonsalves is going to be legitimate. Ironing out a third pitch is not a huge issue for where he is at right now. Seth: I don't think a lot of people understand the option situation for Kepler, so tell us that again. It was only clear in the Prospect Handbook. I had never seen that information before.
  22. I want to compile a prospect list of all the various top 30 or whatever lists around (not the national ones, but the TD one, Jeremy's, Cody's, Thrylos', mine, and Gleeman if he gets that done soonish.
  23. Well the 3 spot being the "best hitter" is just old adage gibberish now. The best three batters, overall, should be 1,2, and 4 with your 3 and 5 spots devoted to power guys. I think Dozier there against lefties is pretty solid.
