  1. I understand no scenario that has Shane Robinson on the roster instead of Aaron Hicks.
  2. I don't think other teams would have to place him on their 25-man roster though, right? In any event, I definitely do not care. Danny Ortiz would provide more overall value.
  3. Nunez does not have power and is not really a veteran either. He can't play defense well anywhere. So . . .
  4. Yes! I am glad you profiled Barrie. I am counting him as a very-under-the-radar guy who should be a top guy to watch at the lower levels.
  5. It is the Twins way now to promote from AA, if we are talking about the top few tiers of prospects in the system. I would usually like to see time at both AA and AAA for the reasons Seth discussed above. Neither Sano nor Buxton will spend time in AAA this year. It's a straight shot from AA for them.
  6. So I haven't heard this before. How is this the first I am hearing of this concern with Stewart?
  7. Sure, and you are correct in general. AAA in 2013 would have been pushing Hicks. Now I do not think that Rosario needs a full season between AA and AAA this year. I think he and Sano should come up together if they are both doing well enough.
  8. Beresford is going to improve this year at AAA. The Twins could sell high on Escobar and it would end up working well for them.
  9. Rosario has almost no success at AA. Hicks is improving. It isn't his fault that the Twins rushed him a full 1.5 seasons too early.
  10. It is time to finally say this. Nolasco is untradeable at the moment, and is likely untradeable throughout the year. No one is going to take on 3 and, what, $37 million without seeing sustained good pitching over an entire season. Next offseason? Maybe, yes. Milone is clearly the guy to put forth as trade bait. Edit: 37 million bucks.
  11. It really is going to come around for Hicks this year. I am predicting a .730 OPS, which is a fantastic improvement over what we have seen so far.
  12. While I eagerly await T-Wolves coverage, the addition of soccer is a very good idea. I would visit that probably more than the Vikings and Wild sites.
  13. I like the idea of Herrmann sticking around for a few more years to be the last guy on the bench who provides some real super utility capability and the ability to at least get on base and smack a double every once in awhile. I like players who do many things instead of guys who can only do one thing (Nunez) as that 13th guy.
  14. Great stuff! This is a real good mix of guys to talk about.
  15. Very interesting read. I always cringe when people seem to think injury was in the essence of any player. Prior might still be pitching if it weren't for Dusty Baker.
  16. Meneses, Diaz, and Martinez totally flew under my radar as minor league pickups. Meneses is a bit interesting. Anyway, the org likes Herrmann, clearly.
  17. Too many things have to go very well for this to happen. Mauer, Nolasco, reliever X, Arcia, and Santana are the five biggest pivotal players to make for a very successful season (81+ wins).
  18. My impression is that this happened with regularity in the latter half of the Gardenhire era (he was a good bullpen manager in the first half of his tenure, for sure).
  19. O'Rourke brought in with the bases loaded to face Pedroia is a laughable situation! I totally prefer trying him out as a LOOGY instead of paying Duensing. If it goes south, a guy like Aaron Thompson is likely *still* better in that role than Duensing. Anyway, Williams might be ok. Not sure about him anymore. I think Taylor Rogers converting to a reliever might happen in 2016 (for his sake due to being blocked in the rotation).
  20. Since he has been my adopted prospect the past two years, I can try to answer this. I was a fan of Herrmann since 2011 where he demonstrated solid hitting and very good plate discipline in AA. At the time, it was known that he was a plus defender in the OF and a solid catcher too. He does drop a few weird ones behind the plate, though. It happened last night once too. He hasn't been able to get off the ground at all in the majors, but at least he finally mashed AAA pitching last year. Personally, I would absolutely choose him over Nunez for the last bench spot. I think it is finally time for Herrmann to start hitting a little better. He still has a great eye. Most people here are terrified at the thought of a Pinto-Herrmann catching situation, but I would have preferred that over signing Suzuki for two more damn years. Herrmann was one of the players at camp well before the official first day, and the organization likes him. He will stick around and, at minimum, is the guy who can come up for two weeks to fill in at several positions. Speaking of, I think he should have worked on adding 3B as a defensive option. A four corner guy who can also catch will stick around in the league for awhile.
  21. Worrying about pull hitting is stupid. Seriously. That cannot be the focus of the discussion about Dozier. Signing him for six years is crazy, in my view, if the goal really is to keep him. If this is about making a product package for a trade if the young ones come through, then, ok. Dozier does have the potential 3-4 years from now of being Nick Punto++ as well. That is, I do imagine that he ends his career as a utility guy because he is a smart player who will maximize his value. But he can still hit very well.
  22. Pinto's bat is going to push Suzuki out of the way.
  23. 2016 starting lineup: Byron Buxton, CF Joe Mauer (back and at 'em), 1B Miguel Sano, 3B Oswaldo Arcia, LF or RF Kennys Vargas, 1B Brian Dozier, 2B Josmil Pinto, C Aaron Hicks, RF or LF Danny Santana, SS
  24. I will be busting out my player predictions soon. But for now, I might as well take advantage of this and give a sneak peak (Mauer is one of only 8 players I have actually finished doing this for): Joe Mauer: .309/.403/.420 (.823), 37 doubles, 6 homers, 2 steals.
