    This in my opinion is what is called a no brainer decision. You gotta go with Mick Abel over Zebby Matthews to start the season. Matthews has been erratic and not in control. How I think the rotation shakes out to start the year.     There was never a doubt that would NOT be the case after the selloff last trade deadline. Whether the Pohlads are willing to admit it or not, the Twins are in rebuild mode.

    The Tigers are definitely the Division winners this year in my opinion. That young core is getting better and better by the second and the AL Central is gonna be weak again in 2026 with the Twins and White Sox at the bottom and Kansas City somewhere in the middle.

    This. He was torched for 6 runs in 3-2/3 innings. Honestly aside from Abel and Ober (who's only pitched 2 innings so far), the Twin's starters have been atrocious. SWR has been brutal as has Bradley which is quite disappointing despite his high K/9 ratio. Andrew Morris hasn't been great either. The Twins are gonna need solid seasons out of SWR, Ober, and Ryan to keep this team from losing 100 games, knowing how bad the offense is gonna be.

    SWR has been BRUTAL so far, but it's still early so we shall see. Ober hasn't been great either which is not a good sign. The Twins rotation might have gone from a strength last season to a liability this season and that's not good news.

    If Ober struggles and with Lopez out for the season, it's down to Ryan, Richardson, and ...... a whole bunch of inexperienced starters in Abel, Bradley, Festa, Matthews and Morris. Prielipp, Raya, and Rojas are also in the mix potentially. I think the Twins should just let the kids play and see who rises to the occasion. I have no illusions this team is gonna be competitive. They should trade Ryan and load up on more prospects, but that's just my opinion.

    Marco Raya is looking more and more like a RP or worse yet a bust. Command has always been an issue with him. He got knocked around hard in St. Paul last season in 20 starts and 10 relief appearances. He might be a candidate for the pen going forward.

    i do. There already has been some significant grumblings from many of owners (and not just the small and mid market teams) about how much the big dogs like the Dodgers and a few others are spending and this time it's enough that they might risk it. The issue is not the Players Union or the amount of revenues the teams are bringing in, but how much they are allowed to spend and the deferred salary stuff. That's what the complaining is all about behind closed doors and it's a completely legitimate gripe.

    yes. That's exactly what I think will happen when they are 20 games under .500 by the all-star break.

    Can he return to elite form? Sure anything is possible. But will he? No. And I would argue he was never "elite" to begin with. He flashed some very good promise He flashed some very good stats in 2023, but since then it's all been downhill.

    aside from worshipping a fantasy god in the sky, I agree. The Twins would be much better off rebuilding completely and stop trying to patch this sinking ship together. It's time to trade Jeffers, Ryan, and Buxton, not wait for more of them to be injured.

    This makes the most logical sense. Detroit is going to dominate the division for the next 4-5 years and let’s face it Lopez and Ryan are not gonna be extended due to the Twins shrinking payroll. In the future I expect the Pohlad and their partners to run the team like the Pirates.

    Very astute assessment. The Pohlads are not going to increase payroll anytime soon. This team was supposedly running a 40 million dollar yearly deficit the past few years. With the new partial investors in place you can bet your yearly salary that they are gonna be looking at the bottom line for at least the next 4-5 seasons to recoup that investment and make sure they make a profit. I hope it doesn't get as bad as the Pittsburg Nutting ownership, but I'm not hopeful. I agree with another poster here. I think they sell the team after 2027/2028 seasons once the strike is over (however long it lasts) and a real salary cap is finally in place.

    The Twins don't have a prayer of making a world series attempt in the next 5 seasons. Let's be completely honest with each other and expectations. NOBODY is beating the Dodgers until at least 2030 unless they have a payroll upwards of 250 million and a DEEP roster of good players. The Blue Jays are close and are adding more to try and get that depth which cost them the 2025 world series in my opinion. The Twins don't even have a legit 1st basemen let alone a full infield of good positional players and the bullpen yikes. Just saying.
