I'm sure he's a nice guy. But he was linked to the cheating with the Astros and he never lived up to the hype of his contract, but hey who would turn down that kinda money, i wouldn't.

Yep. It wasn't just terrible it turned out to be a horrible signing. Carlos Correa was horrendous for the Twins the last 2-1/2 years. His offensive droughts legendary and intolerable for the amount of money he was making. Not a key cog to build a team around.

His vision maybe but his play was atrocious as a Twin. He was non existent every season from April - May and August - September. I'm relieved the Astros wanted him back so badly. Carlos Correa was a double play machine and a momentum killer in the lineup for much of the past 2 seasons.

Apparently, the Twins and Stros are still talking about Correa, but both sides are far apart. I guess the Astros asked for 50 million and an outfield prospect and the Twins flat out said "NO", which I kinda understand. But I guess they are still talking if MLBtraderumors is correct. If they could get it down to say 30 mil, and include a very low ranked outfield prospect, i'd do this in a heartbeat.

I was against. The Twins are not be a big market team, but after the new stadium they were became a solidly entrenched mid-market team. However in the past two years with this ongoing boondoggle with the broadcast and streaming issues they've lost a ton of fans and revenues and have slid back back down the ladder into the small market realm and honestly A LOT of it is Jim Pohlad and Dave St. Pete's fault. The Twins have always been slow to get with the trends and they've done a terrible time at marketing themselves outside stadium events. They are still living in early 2000's. Don't be surprised if more guys like Lopez get sold off in the offseason. I was not for the Correa signing. I thought it way too much money for a guy that quite frankly had a heavy injury history with his ankles and back. He's been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster here. He's so streaky its grotesque. Correa might as well not play from April through the end of May and August to the end of September, he completely disappears offensively. Maybe 12 million a year but 30-35 million heck no.

DUMP HIM NOW!!!! Send 30-40 million Houston's way to get rid of him. Correa is toast. There's a reason most of the other teams shied away from him after the physicals. He's 30 now and fading fast. Why Houston wants him back at this point, god only knows, but i wouldn't look at gift horse in the mouth. TAKE HIM PLEASE and RUN!!!!!!!! ESPN had an article 14 hours ago where Carlos said the talks aren't serious at this point, "We'll see where everything goes, but my goal has always been to be here and win here." Even Carlos knows he's peddling garbage. He's not going to win here ever, the Twins are tearing down now and starting a rebuild and he knows it.

I agree Falvey caved too quickly unless this was a directive to start dumping salary by ownership. If that’s true Correa will be gone by tomorrow hopefully

Yep. I had high hopes for him when he first signed but he’s so atrociously streaky offensively he’s not even close to worth that contract. I agree, send money the Astro’s way, to get rid of him and bring back a lotto ticket prospect.

Not an exceptionally large sample size though. it’s barely more than a scratch Lotto ticket at this point.

Another piece of news. Apparently the Astros have approached the Twins about reacquiring Correa, and that Correa is open to waiving his no trade clause. DO IT! Get rid of his contract while you still can!

If they Twins start selling off, which i kinda doubt, but if they do. I fully expect that Correa will get fed up and demand a trade in the offseason. The Twins sold him a bill of goods that they were gonna continue to build around him and they haven't done that. Correa wants to play for a world series contender not a AAAA farm team. He's the kinda of player with the competitive spirit that he would waive his no trade clause to go to the right team. Unfortunately, his contract is ridiculous for his production levels outside of a handful of teams like the Yankees, Dodgers, etc. -
Buxton is having a very good season, but it's been surrounded by so many mediocre short ones, he's not a player to build around anymore. Unfortunately he has a full no trade clause and he's the least likely guy to consider waiving it otherwise i would deal him in a heartbeat for the right package of return players, while he's hot.

I'm open to deals if they are good trades. You have to give up something to get something. I just hope the Twins realize they need to retool. This current group is not gonna miraculously become a pennant winner without some major additions and subtractions. I'd be looking to unload Correa if he's willing to waive his no trade clause though i doubt it happens. He's not played well enough this season for long enough to generate the hype and his contract is monstrous. -

Yep. It's pretty sad this team won 13 in a row earlier this season and climbed over 5 games above .500 and has sunk back down below .500 again. The streakiness of this group of guys is just maddening. This team needs retooling, a new manager, and a owner. IT's a damn shame too because the starters are pretty good at times and more talent is in the pipeline, when in the past this team had good hitting, but was starved for pitching going back to the early 2000's. Shakes head, such a shame. The offense is so anemic it's sickening.

Those “garbage teams” under TK did play like crap but they were disciplined in that play while this team is not and some of that IS a reflection of Baldelli’s management style and how Falvey also wants it managed. TK had far less talent in many of his years (especially after 1992), than Baldelli has ever had to deal with in his tenure and there’s just no excuse for the poor undisciplined play we’re seeing now from far superior rosters compared to what TK had to work with in the latter half of his time as Twins manager. I don’t even think that is even debatable to be honest but I was also a fan of the team back in the 80’s and remember much of it. I would dare say that TK would have this team turned around and headed in the right direction within a few weeks if he was manager now. There would almost certainly be some benchings.

Baldelli is too loose as a manager. He likes to let the team more or less run itself and players take the initiative and make decisions but it has to be in a disciplined fashion. What we’ve seen is that they are not capable of doing that at least from a talent perspective but also discipline perspective and this is where Baldelli falls flat on his face. I would argue that the team needs a more firm handed manager, somebody like TK or even Gardenhire. Baldelli is just not that kind of manager.
