  1. Guess that's how they feel then. Might see Trevor in August early September if were lucky. Meyer..... maybe next season. Gotta let Milone, Nolasco and Pelfrey earn EVERY ONE OF THOSE DOLLARS. Disgusting.
  2. Agreed. Why the Twins would roll with Shane Robinson over Rosario in center is mind boggling.
  3. Oh reallllyyyyy.....
  4. Not a good outing today for May at all. Probably sealed his fate with this one.
  5. At this point i'd rather have Buxton for sure, but if Giolito had slipped from the first round (16th) to the second round (32nd) where the Twins might have had a shot at him, would you have taken him over Berrios?
  6. Exactly. Given how young he is and getting the surgery out of the way now is a positive in my mind.
  7. It's certainly worth the look. I wanted Lucas Giolito last year.
  8. I completely agree. No more stepping out of the box for very pitch. No more calling time to slow down the pitcher. If you need to adjust your gloves do so between pitches. On the flip side a pitch clock for the pitcher.
  9. "So this was not a knockout. Instead, it looks like we're going to have at least one more round as Molitor said after the game that both pitchers competing against Pelfrey, Tommy Milone and Trevor Mays, will get another start this week." hmmmmm........so what does this mean exactly? The way this statement is phrased it almost sounds like Pelfrey is the front runner. Boy i hope not.
  10. Agreed. However, the Twins seem to have a fascination with Mike Pelfrey and Milone.
  11. It would be interesting to see an infield of Mauer -1b, Rosario -2b, Santana -ss and Sano -3b.
  12. Maybe i'm confusing winded with dogging it around the bases. He's done that before too.
  13. Never said i did. You would need a pair of calipers for that measurement. I'm talking about the 20 + lbs. that he gained in the off-season following TJ surgery. Next.
  14. I completely disagree. That 20 lbs.(looks more like 30 /35) he gained after TJ will quickly become 40/45. After watching him on mlbtv rounding the bases after his HR there's no way he's 260. More like 270/280. Keep in mind that he's gained 65 lbs. since 2010. Just saying.
  15. Are you sure?
  16. Yeahhhh.....but he's a professional athlete. Gaining 20lbs. of muscle is one thing, 20lbs. of fat is a completely different matter.
  17. While i understand the WAR justification for an extension and he has been fairly solid at 2nd defensively, why do we lock him up through arbitration years? He’s not a super star in the making batting in the low .240's and his salary through arbitration won’t be significantly higher than signing him to an extension now. Furthermore, locking him up through arbitration provides little value in a trade situation as he’s still under team control for the same period. 2014 Before and After All Star Break .242/.340/.436 – OPS .776, 12.3% BB Rate, 18.6% K Rate, .194 ISO (Driver of OPS = highly unsustainable HR Rate + unsustainable BB rate) .244/.352/.387 – OPS .739, 13.1% BB Rate, 17.7% K Rate, .143 ISO Fans tend to forget that Dozier has been very inconsistent at the plate throughout his career. His approach and batting style have changed over and over again as he's searched for the right formula to be a legitimate MLB hitter. This is illustrated by the erratic batting averages as he rose from GCL in 2009 to ROC 2011/2012. Dozier’s power is borderline and his ISO is driven by his extreme tendency to pull the ball (something players tend to do at the end of their careers), but that’s also why his average is awful. From 2011 in AA New Britain through 2013, he sat at a maximum BB rate of 8.2% before jumping to 12.6% last year, and it’s not like he showed the eye in 2013 or even in the 2nd half of 2013 (the first glimpse he might belong in MLB). The fact of the matter is that Dozier has just as much track record as a AAAA player as he does a MLB starter. And while his 2014 OPS of .762 and OBP of .345 is absolutely intoxicating to some fans, it's probably a CAREER year that he will never come close to duplicating again. If he continues to pull the ball like he does, opposing teams will catch onto him, similar to what happened to Lew Ford. He’s not the kind of player the Twins need to be in a rush to lock up right now. Let him play another year before making a decision.
  18. Uff da as well. Great to see the homerun, but man did he ever look winded rounding the bases. They weren't kidding in the reports that he did little more than shovel food into his mouth the whole off-season. Not impressed at all with him gaining 20 + lbs. after TJ surgery. Illustrates total lack of discipline, motivation and respect for his teammates and coaches. By the way, i'm 6'-4", 215 lbs. (have weighed as much as 230 when i played football) and Sano looks a lot heavier than 260 if you ask me. I'd say 270-280 in reality. That's A TON of weight for a 22 year old athlete to gain in just five years. When he joined the Twins in 2010 he only weighed 195 lbs. I think we're beyond the 3rd base / dh discussion and really should be discussing if this kid is serious about having a major league career.
  19. This is what really needs to happen. Sooner rather then later. Remember too that Berrios is not too far behind either. May and Meyer both 25 years old. Nolasco, Pelfrey, Milone all should go via trades or DFA.
  20. I agree. Makes no sense to me either for the Twins to negotiate with Dozier this far in advance of arbitration. Next year maybe, 2017 for sure.
  21. True. I too would like to see a trade of Nolasco and outright DFA of Pelfrey to free up rotation spots for Meyer and May. But judging how Ryan and Molitor have been talking up Mike and Ricky i don't think it will happen. The Twins are making a mistake by allowing May & Meyer to grow old in the minors (both are 25 now).
  22. I agree, I don't know how Burdi doesn't enter this discussion. He will debut at some point this season given his "stuff." It's just a matter of when. I'd also like to see Jake Reed and JT. Chargois enter this discussion. Heck even Alex Wimmers might be a possibility at some point. Point is the the Twins have a gluttony of gifted relievers knocking on the door and don't have to settle for Pelfrey or Stauffer as bullpen options.
  23. Well put.
