This is completely untrue. The Twins were not willing to pay Santana.[/quote Be thankful that he was traded. I am almost certain his contract calls for $25M this season.
I guess this must go the same for AJ Pierzynski. Ive never thought that MN fans dont appreciate what AJ did here for 3 yrs.....but he's an arrogant player who takes onfield cheap shots for the Twins #1 rival. Not hard to figure out. Ive always personally hated Torii Hunter more as he left for nothing more than money (but claimed it wasnt) cause he was tired of MN. SO glad he never won anything with ANA At least someone else appreciated AJ during his time here. Also, no phony leg weakness or other crap from AJ he plays all the time. And by playing I mean playing catcher not hiding in the DH or playing 1ST.
They would never pull something like that now would they? You could also factor in the increased value of the team thanks to their great stadium deal that they barely paid half of the cost. You could go on and on with added things. That is why they are rich because they keep changing their numbers and don't really have to answer to anyone on how they decide how much to spend on payroll...
What would it take to make them consider signing with the Twins? The Twins are about to turn into the KC Royals, meaning they would have to overspend to get a decent pitcher to sign a contract. They could always pull the fast one and sign both pitchers to 2-3 YR deals and deal them in July for prospects when we are fighting to stay out of the cellar once again...
Now if only someone can save this article for Joe Mauer to read in 2015 or 2016 and give the Twins back all $23M/yr that he will never earn in his last few years of his horrible contract...............
I should have put that in my post. I just figured they would buy him out and make him a free agent. I would to see him as one of the two SP that the Twins MUST add this winter. Time to clean house and get rid of these 4A SP and get some decent arms to reclaim this weak division.
He fits the bill of who the Twins might possibly sign this off-season. I would accept him over some of the bargain bin SP that the Twins will pursue this winter.
With the Angels collapse there is talk about Mike Scioscia possibly getting fired. Would you like to see him brought in to replace Gardy next season? I would like the move so we could bring in some new people and try to turn around this sad team.
Use stubhub to get your tickets. If you look at the tickets for Twins games lately they are dirt cheap. One more thing I forgot to add, the longer you wait the cheaper the tickets will get. Tickets are pulled 2 hours prior to the game. If you can wait that long you will get an absolute steal.
6. Joe Mauer finds the magic elixir (I'm not saying it was steroids) that helped him win the MVP and fool Bill Smith into giving him $23M a year. 7. If MN didn't bring back basically the same rotation they have had for the last few years that never worked and signed QUALITY arms to replace them. 8. Matt Capps is not resigned. Jonathan Broxton is signed instead to a 2 YR deal. This list could go up to 15 or so....
Is it just me or did Kirby turn down bigger money to stay in MN? We all know how this ends now with a $23M contract on a team not willing to spend much more than $100M. Kind of like jumping out of an airplane with an anvil strapped to your back instead of a parachute. Too bad Joe never heard of a home town discount.
Yeah whatever. Joe Mauer will never measure up to Puckett anyway possible. Like Joe Mauer would ever tell his teammates what Puckett did for Game 6. " You guys should jump on my back tonight. I'm going to carry us.'" Mauer would draw the walk and put all the pressure on Willingham and Morneau to do all the work.
With Oakland's history of trading SP for prospects what would it take to acquire Brett Anderson? His contract looks very manageable 13:$5.5M, 14:$8M club option ($1.5M buyout), 15:$12M club option ($1.5M buyout)
I just hope the kid can handle the pressure of a big game like a title game. Possibly a sign of future greatness how he pitches. Either way, this kid is the one of the top pitchers in this weak organization. Is 2015 the right time for a debut or could he make it sooner?
