  1. So Parmelee is a #2 hitter? Joe Benson should share CF with Mastroianni until Hicks has "earned" a promotion. No reason to start Hicks unless he is SO dominant in spring training. Why would the Twins actually rush a prospect? That would break all their little rules. Rajai Davis would be expendable from the Jays if the price was right.
  2. Was your very reliable source non other than the great [h=1]thrylos98?[/h]
  3. Yeah we are so lucky to miss out on Blanton. He would easily better than anyone currently in the starting rotation. They still need to sign 3 starters and there are not too many decent pitchers out there to choose from. And to make matters worse, it's not like the Twins have many trade chips to work with to pull off a deal. 2014 will be a better year...
  4. He has to learn the "Twins way" of pitching before he earns any promotion. In other words dial back the fastball to the low 90's and start pitching to contact. So sad that they will ruin his chances becoming a possible top of the rotation starter.
  5. Exactly, And they won't put Joe Webb into the game?
  6. So Alex Meyer does not make the list? What a crappy list if they can't keep it up to date.
  7. DC used to have a Thome shirt that read "600 Naturally". We should do a Butera one that reads ".500(OPS) Naturally". I thought you would have said Butera BA .200 Naturally.
  8. Lannan is garbage. At least Gorzelanny can actually strike out guys and could be a starter or reliever.
  9. Tom Gorzelanny would be a decent SP to add. He could be used to keep Kyle Gibson's innings down if the Twins decide to copy what Atlanta did with Kris Medlen.
  10. You missed one pitcher who may be better than those you listed that the Twins should sign, Tom Gorzelanny. Jeff Karstens would be a decent signing to ease Kyle Gibson into the rotation.
  11. How do I move this thread to On the Farm?
  12. I also noticed mlb.com has Alex Meyer as #50 on their new top 100 prospects.
  13. I feel better about this trade the more I read about Alex Meyer. I just finished reading an article written by Parker Hageman and just found out he played in the 2012 MLB futures game. Not too bad for a guy drafted in 2011 to be chosen for the US roster. I wonder what level he will start at and where do you expect him to finish the season? One last note, at twinsbaseball.com the Twins list Meyer as the #3 prospect in the organization. So the future could be bright if they can just find a way to add a few starters to be competitive this upcoming season.
  14. Do you really need to have 5 catchers protected on the 40 man? I know Mauer and Doumit play other positions but pull the plug already.
  15. I can't believe the Twins are going to wait until the last minute to non tender Drew Butera. Come on you can't have 1/8 of your 40 man roster filled with catchers. On another note, I ran across a pitcher that was drafted by the Twins in the 22nd round in 2007 that never signed and could be a decent bullpen addition. Mickey Storey. Storey was just claimed off waivers from the Astros last week, but the Yankees needed to clear some space on their 40-man roster. The 26-year-old right-hander had a 3.86 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 30 1/3 innings this past season and could draw interest on waivers.
  16. How could you call Meyer a "C" prospect, the guy hits 98 MPH as a starter and looks to have 3 plus pitches (not to mention size, good minor league results etc)? He was widely considered the 2nd best prospect heading into 2013 of the Nats farm class. Meyer is clearly the best pitching prospect the Twins have and ranks somewhere between Hicks and Arcia but ahead of Rosario and Gibson, you wouldn't call those guys C prospects right?? Not to rip him but he may be ranked high in their organization because of the Gio Gonzalez trade that took some good arms to acquire him.
  17. I highly doubt the Twins have any interest in bringing Pavano back. This is just agent talk trying to make teams think their client is desirable to teams. All that has to be said about Pavano is that NO teams are willing to give him more than a minor league deal. Why else would he come out and say he would love to pitch for the MARLINS? Enough said...
  18. The Braves should still have interest in Span. They still lack a leadoff hitter and could put him in LF.
  19. So does this mean the Twins are finally make a FA signing now that they have an open spot? Drew Butera should be non tendered by the deadline. Come on does any other team in baseball have 5 catchers on their 40 man roster???
  20. Maybe they have interest in him as a SS? LOL
  21. Money doesn't buy championships. Just look how many the Yankees have won lately. True, but it without a doubt gives them a huge advantage over other teams in the league. Don't worry people, New York, Boston and the other larger markets will make sure this is dealt with so they can keep their advantages.
  22. As long as he doesn't turn into A-Rod and then you are stuck with the huge contract, that the Dodgers will just absorb...
