  1. Santana Mauer Dozier Hunter (i anticipate a higher OBP for him than the remaining players) Arcia Vargas who cares after that?
  2. FWIW, Kiley on Fangraphs today said he thinks Meyer is a future closer, not starter.....
  3. Once May and Meyer add wins, we can count those. do we also count the negative WAR from Worley as part of the value of Revere?
  4. Who here is arguing anything other than the outcomes? Not an explanation, not an expectation, but whether the outcomes are good?
  5. I have a hard time ignoring everything but his OBP. That seems like a bad way to build a team. He can't hit MLB pitching. He barely hit minor league pitching. I think Hicks should be in AAA. I think they will start him in CF in MN.
  6. Well, looking at the picks and comparing the WAR generated does just that. It compares their outcomes achieved to other teams. And, they don't fare well. Those arguing that the time frame should include the last 3 drafts.....go for it. I bet the actual MLB outcomes produced look no better for the Twins. There can be all kinds of explanations or excuses, but the outcomes are the outcomes. If they are so awesome at getting in talent, whey are 4 of 5 starting pitchers on next year's roster from outside the organization? If they are so good at getting talent, why do they have 4 straight years of 90+ losses (so far)? I don't get why people get so defensive about this. They are terrible. They have been terrible for at least 4 years. That is driven by an insufficient number of good players. Why is that hard to acknowledge?
  7. A point where people seem to disagree is that the Twins should expect to do poorly drafting so late.....vs some who say that is not an acceptable expectation..... It is hard to know if it is all drafting, all development, or what percent of each. It is hard to know how they really make decisions. All we can really know is the outcomes vs other teams......
  8. If your strategy is to be median salary, and to rely on your farm, you NEED to be BETTER than others at it, or you will be bad. It isn't enough to be "as good as" expected. It doesn't work with your strategy. Lots of excuses, but the truth is, they missed a lot for several years in a row. Those are the outcomes produced....and that's why they are bad.
  9. I'm not sure most of them get that much money, btw......
  10. Even if Pelfrey is good for 15 starts, ya, right, what could you trade him for? MOVE ON ALREADY.
  11. Pelfrey. Sigh. He's gone after this year, why keep investing time, resources, playing time, anything in this guy? Move on to the future. Very, very potentially frustrating.
  12. 130K over 4-6 years.....good luck living on that.
  13. Wow. Well, it would save me a lot of time and angst if I never watched or listened to baseball again......so there's that in his "plan". There are GMs who agree, that a team using brains to (in their opinion) increase their odds of winning is wrong. So. Sad.
  14. Sigh. Signing Pelfrey for 2 years remains a mind boggling decision. I know others don't agree, but if you could see my brain, you'd see it boggle every time I think of this decision. You are lucky if your's does not do that, frankly.
  15. good point on Opening day.....good point.
  16. No way they burn service time for a one month peak at those guys. They are up earlier, or not at all.
  17. Probably the same number Meyer thinks are better than him......
  18. But his goal is to be in the rotation out of spring, and to be up here most/all of the year......how does anyone see that happening?
  19. Not sure what that has to do with his goals for next year......which is what I was talking about.
  20. He's about 5th in line though....so it will be very hard to do this year. I hope he's not setting himself up for disappointment. He certainly looks like he'll be successful, but right now, there are a lot of bodies between him and MN.
  21. Milone seems like a great guy to have in AAA, ready for a spot start, and if May and Meyer fail. I think May should get the first shot. He showed great improvement last year, and he's a legit prospect. Give him a real shot.
  22. Fair enough, ashbury........but this draft featured RP, and one of the reasons I don't like that is that I don't feel the Twins promote them fast enough. But I'm willing to stop the conversation. If the reason they don't have any good, young RP is that they didn't draft well.......then that's the reason. We'll see if things really change or not as we go along.
  23. Or that are on the MLB roster w/in 3 years of being drafted?
  24. Name the RP on the roster in the last 5 years that are under 25........and were drafted by the Twins.
  25. He didn't go to "ok", he went to above average/very good. We don't know if he'll repeat it, buy why wouldn't he? I agree, he is under appreciated.
