  1. So exciting! Who doesn't want to watch the oldest rebuilding team ever?
  2. Replace 2015 with 2014....and those are the same words I read last year. And, Meyer never came up, and May barely did. My point about their age was no to let birdwatcher try to prove that the Twins are not slow at promoting players....but that if they were really good prospects, they would be up by now. .....since that are 25.
  3. The future that never comes......nice trades of Span and Revere so far.....three years in, and nothing to show other than negative contributions.
  4. If coaches are worth 1-3 wins, they are vastly underpaid compared to players.
  5. Attitude matters, the stats outside of baseball show that, no idea what they say inside baseball..... Talent matters a lot more in MLB than in attitude though. I also agree that it is generally a post hoc explanation, that really doesn't hold up to scrutiny well. When a team gets hot, and they say it is chemistry.....which came first, the more luck, or the new attitude? Attitude matters, 100% agree. How it is developed, how it contributes, lots of other questions.....we just don't have a firm understanding. And, picture and laughing while losing and all kinds of other stuff fans get worked up over, not a believer at all.
  6. Not exactly the traditional rebuild process......
  7. If it is about his injuries, I am on board with that. If it is something else....then I don't get it (the post above mine someplace).
  8. No kidding. It was an analogy, not a perfect one, clearly.
  9. Why should Pinto go to AAA to play every day? He's old enough to be up here now, not some elite prospect that NEEDS to play every day.
  10. Well, not sure what to make of any of that. Other than I wish I was in Florida.
  11. Another good point above, if you keep the young guys down, how do you know what you have? At some point, you need to give them a chance, like, in a year when you are NOT A CONTENDER, like the last two years, and pretty probably this year too.
  12. Ryan doesn't trade prospects, not sure how they can ruin their trade value.
  13. Except they aren't putting anyone* with options on the MLB roster. That's the point, the RP should be 2-3 guys with options, that can be sent down and brought back up, not guys all over 31. *1 guy? Maybe?
  14. Great post. It isn't the individual decisions, its the collective decisions that I take issue with. There is zero evidence young players are getting a shot in the bullpen. Meanwhile, other teams are calling up young RP earlier, so, you know, they get pitches before their arm falls off from trying to throw so hard. It's the philosophy that appears to be the issue.
  15. Bet is a loaded word........true. I don't think this is a "bet", but a decision based on odds, like all decisions.
  16. Stauffer wasn't good last year, was he? He got grit and he's a veteran though. I didn't like the signing at all. My opinion had nothing to do with this spring. I'm insulted at the implication, frankly. Old, mediocre players with little upside should not be blocking prospects. How does s2nding good players down allow them to later keep the other guys, other than keeping the same guys down? How long is depth more important than quality?
  17. Disagree. keep the best players up, and try to win. How long would you keep the better player down, for depth?
  18. Tim Stauffer.......sounds like a scholarship to me.
  19. that is also a risk......and I don't get the Pelfrey thing, but they have cut bait recently on bad deals. I hold out belief they'd do that here. But, I agree, that is a risk.
  20. Right, which makes the "burden" of signing him for $5MM a year practically free. That will be what a veteran who is worth half a WAR signs for at that point, a backup guy. I'd say it is around 80% likely he is a legit RF or DH by then.
