  1. If I didn't have some issues going on, I'd be buying RE or into a private trust right now for sure, even with prices too high....
  2. No tax on retirement accounts....And even if Clinton wins there could be issues
  3. I would just like to say....this is a very polite reply. Thanks.
  4. Strongly considering selling every stock in my retirement accounts Monday....at worst I lose a few points of gain. At more worst, I keep from losing twenty it thirty percent next week
  5. I agree with this, that was probably the worst move of the night.
  6. Several really good articles on Fangraphs about how you can't steal at will on Lester.....
  7. Yikes, I can't see how FA will fix much: http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2016/11/03/2016-17-top-111-free-agents/
  8. It will be good to see what happens, it was time for change. It should, at least, lead to some good theater.* *I hope that doesn't sound cold, I know some people will lose jobs in this transition, and that sucks.
  9. great post, and I thought it did come out, but great post.
  10. A one game sample is not 162 games.....the best pitchers pitched the most. That's good managing, not bad managing. Are you suggesting they should have pitched their less good RPs more? I am not sure what you are arguing..... The did trust their players. They trusted the best ones to be good/great. I am not sure I get what you are arguing.
  11. 1991 was good, but I'm not sure it was fun for casual fans at all..... I too thought Francona did a better job than Maddon. Still love them both as managers, and they make Molitor look, well, I'll be polite I guess...
  12. No one has ever said madden is perfect, and doesn't make mistakes. No one. The argument that you can't make mistakes, and still be awesome at your job......that's a BS argument. I was clearly replying to that.
  13. Advantage of the West Coast....sports are over at a decent hour, though even this one went to 10 almost.....
  14. Help me out here.....you can have hope of a return, and still have a sunk cost. A sunk cost is money already spent, that cannot be returned or recovered. But, you could still sell that crappy piece of technology you bought, even if just for parts. The concept, in terms of what it really means for decision making isn't really about that.... If people are using "sunk cost" when they should use "prospective cost" or another term.....well, not everyone here is an economics major. But, they are using the concept fairly well. They are saying "just because we are paying Mauer does not mean we should play Mauer". That is so dang close to sunk cost fallacy arguments, in terms of how a business should make rational decisions, that to argue otherwise is pretty darn pedantic. We all know what people are saying when they use that phrase in this context, to argue they aren't using the actual right phrase is not fair to them, their argument, or their intelligence. IMO.
  15. The worst decision in the series was pitching Chapman in game 6, imo. I understand why he did it, I would never have done it.
  16. Here is a list of people who have said he never makes mistakes:
  17. I don't think you've ever posted this before. Is there a better way to make your point? Because it clearly isn't sticking with some people. An honest question, it isn't sticking, so is there a better way? I can't think of one, because what you type is true. OTOH, we are Fans, not rational beings. Rational beings wouldn't care if the Twins win....so I'm not sure rational discussions always work. That's what my leadership training says, if you are in an emotional discussion, rational arguments may make it worse....
  18. Catchers come up slower. College seniors come up when they are 25 or 6, unless they are elite prospects. We should be very happy he looks this competent/good.
  19. Or heroes....
  20. It's clear that athletes today are generally, nearly always, better than back in the day......but I guess I was comparing Winfield to his peers, relative to Sano to his peers......and that's no contest. I'm not sure Sano is better even w/o taking into account 40 years of genetics and training and whatnot...what was this thread about, again?
  21. Wait, Dave Winfield, drafted by the NBA, NFL and MLB was a worse athlete than Sano, for the era? We will just disagree on that, I guess.
