  1. I really don't think these GM games of smoke screens and other things actually matter.....but I could be wrong.
  2. They dismantled the bullpen at the break, and had a higher winning percentage after that....IIRC.
  3. I disagree. They are contenders next year....they won 84 games last year. Add Dozier, add a SP from someplace....that definitely gives them a legit shot at 90 wins, imo.
  4. You do know Twitter is blocked for a decent number of people.....for those that are, this is a Brewers' trade, not Twins.....
  5. Except....the post he was replying to was "Dozier wouldn't be an upgrade"....not the cost of Dozier....
  6. Oh.. Mine is up overall... Just not that day. Mostly tech.... And my employer, which is waaaaaay up
  7. Fine, but you need 7 starters...you jettison Gibson and/or Santiago, then what? And, it only gets worse if you deal ESan...... These decisions don't happen in a vacuum.
  8. I'd probably tender them all, but I understand why some would not tender Kintzler or Santiago. That said, if you think you are trading ESan....you tender Santiago for sure, imo. I think Kintzler is replaceable from the minors....and I'd roll those dice this year. Giving up on Gibson, imo, is silly. He has talent. Give Allen 1 more year to fix him. It's not like there are tons of other options.
  9. Just to be clear......Torii has been very clear in his statements about gays and "black" Latins.....this isn't something people are making up. For some people, that's an issue. For others, it isn't. As for your ad hominen attack...well, sorry you feel that way.
  10. Welcome to the site! I would do this. I'd probably ask for another low level minor leaguer, in exchange for taking on the Puig salary.
  11. great post. Let's hope Grossman never plays in the OF again! Heck, I'd rather have him as the DH than Napoli, in a sever PINCH he could play OF for an inning or three.
  12. so, um, don't post opinions on moves for 3 more months?
  13. Well, it is a thread about the stock market, and my comment was about how ST trading reacted to the good news.....I uh, think that makes sense to comment on. YMMV, of course. I'm not suggesting anything, other than ST traders didn't find the news all that compelling.
  14. The market is flat....so, not sure ST investors agree....is that a controversial post somehow?
  15. All my stocks but 1 is down....
  16. apparently ST traders don't agree!
  17. You aren't the first to do it, and won't be the last......I just don't buy it. There have been people every generation that made that whole group be questioned by their parents and older people......we've never had the internet before to say it over and over (and to see such obvious examples). I could have said it nicer myself. Have a great day!
  18. Must feel this pretty strongly to post it twice well, had they kept Plouffe and not signed a catcher, how would you feel about the start? Me? I rather like these two moves. Given that, I guess I feel COMPELLED to say, strong start. YMMV, of course.
  19. Well, you need 2 catchers for one thing. Also, a strong (if he is) defensive catcher helps your young pitchers out a lot. I don't see this as WIN NOW, but as....we need a catcher, we want a defensive catcher to help our young pitchers....here is one that isn't $100MM. I don't see this as indicating anything about Dozier or Santana at all. That's just a guess, and I don't do guesses much anymore about other people's motivations.
  20. dude, nothing else has happened this offseason, hardly, and there aren't any FAs out there. What, exactly, do people expect at this point? They cut Plouffe, and they signed the top player at a position of need......
  21. 1 WAR costs $8 MM a year.....that's what they paid. (and that WAR does not currently take into account any framing advantage he brings over Suzuki). But, I agree, there are reasons to be concerned about Castro. I'd rather they roll the die and try to be good, than to sit back and do nothing though.
