  1. If anyone thinks they have a 25% or 20% or 10% chance of making the playoffs, you should be in Vegas. Because they have much larger odds than that. Yes, I think if you ran 1000 simulations, they'd make the playoffs around 2-3% of the time. Maybe 5, but that seems high to me.
  2. Of course it is part of the equation. Everything is, that's what is so hard about building an organization. LOTS of variables, many outside of your control.
  3. That team was very lucky in 2015, can luck happen again? Sure. Can every player get better and healthy? Sure. But, imo, a huge corporation shouldn't bet its future on luck.
  4. Well, it does cost taxpayer money, it does distract universities from caring about academics (look at HS football in TX, and the money spend on stadiums, and NOT on classrooms and teachers), and no other country ties sports and education like this....and many have passed us on education. I wonder why.....could it be because we are spending money and time and resources on sports, and not on education? Not to mention the fact a bunch of guys are getting rich off of unpaid athletes.
  5. 20% likely to be in the playoff hunt? No chance. Wow. Based on what, and if you really believe that, you should be in Vegas betting for sure.
  6. Oh, I am sure they think this will keep bonus numbers down, it's still a stupid rule, unless your only goal is to keep bonuses down....
  7. It's a stupid rule, if you want teams to be able to plan....
  8. Oddly, teams can't deal International money until after July 2.....not sure how they get around that, frankly. And yes, that should be part of the deal, 100%, imo.
  9. Seems fair....and these grades point out 1 reason Molitor should be gone, imo. I imagine we'll either see him change a lot this year, or be gone at the end of the year. It took too long for Chargois to get here, and he wasn't great when he did. Hopefully the plan of drafting RPs in rounds 1-3 is gone now.
  10. A couple thoughts: Sherlock was boring, almost bad. If that's what is happening this year, count me not sad it is ending soon. No one cared about Mary the superspy. We don't want giant earth shattering cases. We want Sherlock Holmes and Watson solving mysteries. Westworld was awesome. I found myself both predicting things and being surprised at things. I didn't like Maeve returning at the end, frankly. Also, they needed to give us more info on what the top secret agenda of the corporation was. Started to feel like Lost or the lame parts of X Files after awhile.....Finally, I wasn't surprised we say a glimpse of "Asia world", but I would have liked to have seen Dungeon world....
  11. B-.....even though less than 40 SPs probably really outdid him last year? Not sure I agree.
  12. You realize these are grades for what they did last year, right? Not the future, last year. Nick, spot on.
  13. But, again, why is gold a safe haven? Other than it is shiny? And, would you have felt that way when it plummeted? I just don't get it. I mean, it's not like gold held its value and just goes up all the time....
  14. I still don't understand why gold matters as some kind of safe haven......it's shiny metal, with no real intrinsic value (ok, that's not true, but we don't make MUCH with it other than decorations). The emotional attachment to gold, it just seems odd to me in 2017....
  15. And, NVIDIA ends up for the day.... Pretty sure I'm going to lock in some gains next week. Maybe. Buffet would be annoyed with me...
  16. Based on what, for WWE? Not sure it matters, not sure I can buy them, but I am in interested.
  17. I saw bitcoin yesterday....wish I'd have followed you on that ride!
  18. Nvidia couldn't wait 1 more week to lose it's value......just 1 more week....
  19. The defense was really bad, but that was largely before Buxton, Kepler, Rosario played every day. The catching and 3B and SS were, admittedly, suspect. And any time Grossman or DanSan played, ouch.
  20. Interesting. If I factor in expectations, I'd probably raise it a bit, as my expectations were pretty low for the OF group.
  21. He did say "wait for the pitching"....and the Twins were 16th in runs scored, only 30 from 10th. That sounds like a C to me.
  22. I can't imagine anyone has forgotten how bad it was.
  23. I would expect that over time, that hitters would get better at their craft. Two of these OFers were pretty much rookies.....so I guess I'm not sure what the point of the first sentence is, are we expecting fully formed MLB players in rookie seasons?
  24. 5 year plan? How is trading Dozier for near ready players a 5 year plan?
