  1. I'm suggesting they have failed for the last 5 years to rebuild this team with any speed at all, compared to the Cubs and Astros, and probably the Phillies and Braves.
  2. If you won't trade for top 10 prospects out of fear, you won't make many trades....
  3. Bad teams refuse to trade Perkins, Dozier, ESan, et. al......
  4. How so? They won 59 last year, even if you think they were really a 65 win team, do you actually expect them to win 80+ this year? Dozier is signed for 2 more years, I'd bet a lot of money that this coming year is not a playoff year.....so what is Dozier really worth, in context of the overall team?
  5. Today, the FG prospect guy said he has a flat FB like Berrios......
  6. I'll take that bet, that someone overpays this summer. Assuming over pay is well more than a top 40-60 prospect.....like, that and another prospect in the top 100, which seems to be the price everyone here expects is fair...
  7. They haven't been signing FAs or trading prospects for a couple years, I have suggested them on Fangraphs and here, and most respond that A: they aren't competing this year maybe; B: they are acting differently now. but, I agree, they are a legit candidate when Castro struggles, and if they are in the race.
  8. David 1:58 Where do you see Dozier going now/at the deadline? Giants? Cardinals? Nats? Mets? Does any "likely" team have a prospect package that entices the Twins? Eric A Longenhagen 1:58 I think Minnesota waits for someone to get hurt so they can leverage that club. Of course, if Dozier starts slow....
  9. Not fair....what most posters realize is that you need A LOT of pitching prospects, some with ceilings, to end up with a good staff. One way to get those is to trade for them.....I think making assumptions about what most poster don't realize is probably a bad idea.
  10. We can all agree that we don't want them to be the AZ traders, that's true.
  11. see above.... "if you think he's a number 3/4"...you have to trust your scouts. Now, if that meant "if there is a 50% chance he's a 3", that's a different statement.
  12. I guess I misunderstood this part: "If you think De Leon is a #3/4 type, maybe it's better to roll the dice on a ****ty FA pitcher and keep Dozier" because that part seems to say that you wouldn't trade Dozier for a number 3 pitcher. Maybe the 4 is bigger.....
  13. You wouldn't trade 2 years of Dozier, when they aren't in the playoffs, for 6 years of a number three, when hopefully they are? I would. as for your second point, why would you trade Dozier for the same offer later, if not now?
  14. If you add a starter, I assume Berrios is in the minors, and May is in the bullpen. Is that what people want, at this point? I wouldn't be shocked at a RP or two, frankly. Can't let young guys pitch in relief....even if you spend numerous 2nd and 3rd round picks on them.
  15. common sense=world is flat argument, Nick. Is there any evidence that making one bad deal, or one great deal, changes how other deals happen? I'm not arguing you or others are wrong, I am asking if anyone has any data on this at all, or we just "know it is true".
  16. Nick's article left off the most likely outcome....Dozier is good to very good, the Twins can't pitch, lose 85-90 games, and then do it again next year, and then Dozier leaves as a FA.
  17. Well, they have nothing else to trade, does this matter? Is there any evidence, anywhere, that anyone can find, anywhere, that making one "bad" trade leads to bad offers in the future, or is this "the earth is flat, everyone knows that"? Seriously, just give me some actual data about this. One piece.
  18. I guess we are about to find out, aren't we. Sigh.
  19. Dozier couldn't throw out Brock from SS (I so wish you could tag people here....).
  20. you had to go there.....can't wait to read about Treadwell this off season. ugh. not on vikings journal of course....
  21. How many times did I read "OF defense doesn't matter" last year.....
  22. I agree with this, except the part where Mauer is somehow at fault. He was a SUPER TALL catcher, who is wearing down, not out of laziness, but because that's what years of HS football and professional catching has done to his body. If Sano can't play 3rd, I try him at first, but I expect him to be a DH "soon"...
  23. Not sure I understand......are you arguing that if they hit, but played bad defense (i.e., the reverse of last year), they'd be good? I'd argue no, that it takes both run prevention and run scoring....not one or the other (unless you are ridiculously dominant on one side).
