    Ya, I know. I've never quite understood why I can't listen to the game on the phone, and hear those ads. Well, I do understand, I just don't like it. I think I have xm radio for another week or so, I could sit in the car and run down my battery, I think.

    I can stream it free, if I live in Minnesota and have a radio, but I can't listen to it free in Portland, or on my phone. Sigh.

    I was trying to think of a "good" reason Haley would have to pitch 6 innings.....and it's allergy season in Portland.

    I predict a win today. It's my bday, they won't let me down on my bday. Grossman and Castro will be the hitting stars, with Haley pitching 6 shutout innings after Santana has an allergy attack.

    I have no idea. They cut Park, and tried to sign a DH. I am guessing the team has the twelfth best DH at the end of the year. I don't think they like their options.

    Not sure be patient, give them time, expect big changes in two to four weeks... Not sure those thoughts are all congruent....

    Where he literally says he isn't predicting it would happen. It was a thought piece, and he clearly says he doesn't think it will happen.

    If he can hit .500 bunting, he should bunt every time.....but that seems unlikely. I predict 4 WAR of both the b and f variety. I predict more hitting, but still maddeningly inefficient at stealing bases.

    Well, that's not really how it works. They were very unlucky last year in terms of win/loss. That's the kind of logic AZ used last year, and now their GM and President are fired. You have to look at how they arrived at 59 games.....they probably should have 65 or so last year, given how they actually played. Also, if you aren't expecting better years from Buxton and Sano, and much better OF defense this year, you are probably losing a few wins in your prediction, imo. 72 is my number.

    Uh, which young pitchers are going to get a shot to stick or not? Other than Mejia and Haley (who they've all be admitted won't pitch much), which young pitchers are on the staff? 65 games? No way they only win 65 games (assuming reasonable health).

    Love the optimism. Not sure I share it, but he sure deserves 5-10 starts (once you decide to give him a shot) at this point.

    Wow, a blast from the past time name (well, it seems that way to me). Great writing, thank you. I loved the pork belly, btw. It's pretty much my go to food item (which might be why I'm not in the best shape of my life). I agree, the food is much better on paper than in the mouth, alas. Yes, the beer selection sucks compared to other places. Upsizing the beer is bad, people like 12 oz. It's a pretty obvious ploy to get money from the "I'll only have one" crowd, as you say.

    We also heard the 25th roster spot doesn't matter recently...all the spots matter. All the games matter.
