  1. Ahem. Someone posted it wasn't over......
  2. How did shutting it down change anyone's mind on Greene? If anything changed, it was McKay and his drop as a pitcher, and Wright's continued dominance. How Greene not pitching changes anything is beyond me.
  3. What happened to that Buxton that was hot? I liked that Buxton a lot. This game is not over.
  4. Leave him in. Save all those bullpen arms.... disappointed.
  5. Wow. The ad server just served up a Mormon ad.... Good luck with that!
  6. btw, the picture with the thread? I've been growing a "beard" for almost two weeks now. It would end up looking like those if I kept going. I think I'll be shaving it off over the weekend. OTOH, I will be visiting my mom next week, and she hates when I don't shave, so it's tempting to keep it.
  7. Depends, do you mean for this year, or for the next 5+ years? those lists are VERY different. For example, the Dodgers have a minor leaguer that some think has no position, but he can really hit. That's very different than saying that bad team X has player Y that can hit.
  8. I loved the beer part! It was funny. And it made fun of beer snobs too. All around perfect joke, imo.
  9. No cash! I have no cash! My 19 yo reminded me this week that he told me to get in when it first launched.....
  10. I hate that concept so much. Of course there, and of course you have to draft pitchers. And of course they come with risk. So do hitters.
  11. The Mark Appel story is a good one to remember when people say that college pitchers are de facto safer than HS pitchers. He was the best college pitcher, according to scouts, for like 2 years......
  12. Frankly, I'm glad a 17 year old hasn't thrown a ton of off speed stuff and other pitches that are generally considered worse for your arm. Pretty much every single HS player is about projection. The way some here are typing, they would never, ever, take a HS player in round 1.
  13. And as usual, I'm thinking WAY more about being ready for 2018 than this year. Do we think Gimenez will be here next year? If not, do we think Garver will be the backup? If so, and there are only a couple hundred ABs anyway.....why wouldn't Garver be here learning from Castro, getting used to being a MLB, and be truly ready to be the backup next year? Conversely, if they think Gimenez will be the backup next year, they should maybe see if anyone wants to trade for Garver at this point.
  14. So, no calling up a 3rd catcher until the trade deadline? I could live with that, and understand it. But you have way more confidence that trades will happen than I do. Way more. I'm also not sure Adrianza is any better then Vielma (at least not enough more that it matters). Interestingly, I think it more likely Escobar is traded than Dozier.
  15. I'd probably call up Murphy right now. Giving Garver another month in AAA, or two, isn't the end of the world. but, I'd like Garver up this year at some point (no later than August, since September is a fake month unless you are in contention), because I believe he's the future catcher, and would like him splitting time with Castro next year, and probably taking over more fully in 2019. I know some don't want Garver up and sitting, but he'll be sitting a lot in 2018 too. At some point, he has to come up (assuming you think he's the future). I agree, having Escobar and Adrianza on the roster seems redundant right now. If Murphy or Garver can hit at all, they can be a PH if one is needed.
  16. shouldn't a home run count as a single, double, and triple anyway? I mean, he did touch all the bases...
  17. Crazy. And, I hope you are right.
  18. i think that's the real question, why is he even on the 40 man, and why isn't someone with a future?
  19. No chance he makes it that far. None. Of course, I could be wrong, but no chance. With the bonus pools shrinking, they can't save enough money to entice him. Indeed, there are 2 teams that pick a 2nd time before the Twins do, so if anyone can do it, they maybe can.
  20. Thanks to Seth and Keith for these. Of course, I am a KLAW fanboy.....as much or more for his non-baseball work. I have been saying Wright for weeks, and I'd go that way. A legit 3, possibly 2, maybe a 1. As a college pitcher. From a good school. I love Greene's potential, and would have no issue with that pick. In fact, I'd be thrilled with that pick. KLAW just described him as having the stuff that makes HoF types!
  21. I don't know much about those markets, and every time I dip in, I get hammered.
