    It's a great strategy, IF you are willing to trade prospects for proven MLB pitchers, and sign good FAs. I've never understood your mocking tone of "king Theo"......he literally led two teams to WS championships.

    It's hard to believe how many games the Yankees have won, even with enough injuries that they've lost more projected WAR than some teams will have by the end of the year (once they lose it all as the weeks/months go by for the currently hurt players). That said, I'm glad, for the Twins, that they are catching them while most of those players are still hurt. I like their odds more this way. As for today, I continue to be impressed by Berrios. And Polanco. And have never understood the distaste for Castro ( a signing I longed for, and eventually got).

    I'm reaching further into the minors for SP help than those three......I think.

    Interesting. Lewis is probably a SS, and Kiriloff a 1B/DH/sometime OF.....I'd think most would want the SS.

    No one argued they should be the only thing used. How would you suggest we understand if the team is good at pitching, if not by looking at where they are compared to other teams?

    Cruz is doing exactly what I expected. Gonzalez is obviously much worse than anyone expected. Cron is worse than I expected. So, ya, no, not true at all. No place have I argued to always and only sign expensive FAs, I've argued they should do it once for a pitcher, then see. Feel free to debate things, but let's debate what each other actually says, and not straw men.

    So, a number 4 or 5 pitcher? That's a pretty low bar. I hope he's better than that!

    AAA is a wasteland for pitching help. That depth doesn't look so good right now. The minutes have really been blech the last couple years. When does this highly rated system supply players? Other than Harper, who is thirty, is there even a rookie on the roster? I hope we see some help soon, but I don't know where it would come from.

    Given the change in the ball, every AAA hitter should be hitting more. Hurray about Sano being back!

    Is your point never take pitchers? I'm not sure. I wanted a SP, but a different one. I believe he is already in the majors.....

    In the top twenty, nearly all are in the majors or AAA or AA. They've been successful at higher levels. It's hard to say he's the best right now. Frankly, the minors have added very little the last few years. It's an issue for sure.

    I don't know how anyone can say he is, given the start to the year. Might he be? Sure. Are there players I would rather have? Probably, but I have to think about it, so maybe he is. But I bet with some digging I can find guys I'd rather have. So maybe not.

    Right. True game theory at work. I am ambivalent about which one came up for this one game. That will change as the year goes on, and players separate themselves from each other, good or bad.

    They are using the juiced ball in AAA. Runs are way up across the level. I don't think we know yet what this means.
