  1. If they are down to the 8th inning, and Gallo is on the bench, and they are down 1, I want Gallo batting. Same with late inning defense if they are up 1-2.
  2. Since AK came up, the OF has been Gallo, Taylor, Kepler nearly every game. Buxton has DHd nearly every game. CC has been at SS nearly every game. AK at first since he came up. That's every position but 3B, which Lewis played every game he wasn't hurt, and 2B which rotates among Julien and Castro and Farmer, and C which is two guys just like every other team....so, 6 guys every game nearly.
  3. On the leadership side....giving him a day off to watch and relax more than he would if playing might not be a bad idea...
  4. I mean, if you are going to have Miranda up, he should be playing, IMO.
  5. Another option is any of the Padres top 4 prospects, plus another random guy. The Pads are still in win now mode.....
  6. Jordan Lawler plus some random guy with big upside, but far down the system. I then move Lawler to CF, unless you think Lewis is going there. I'm willing to change the second guy to a RP prospect if the Twins really believe in one.
  7. That's why there are hundreds and hundreds of minor leaguers, because you need that many to get legit players. I don't get your point at all.....
  8. I agree that you can do better or worse in trades.....but a team out of contention getting ANY value for a player is more than just letting him walk (again, assuming no (QO).
  9. To my point about the OF, the Twins are 21st in teh league for OF offense, but are so far from the top 10, or even 15, that they are playing a different (bad) game compared to the best teams. They are only 13th on D, btw....and 18th in fWAR. They can't afford to sit still, not this year or next....and they shouldn't be dealing prospects for one year rentals (there are none that are better than the Twins' players on the bad teams, as far as I can tell).
  10. Correct. A team out of contention cannot lose a trade of an impending FA (unless that FA can get a QO). They are a free agent.....so, no, you can't take into account signing them or not, because they can sign them when they are a FA.
  11. We are in alignment here
  12. Fair... But how do you have any idea what to do with the OF next year? They have zero starters signed..... And no idea if Celestino, Larnach, Wallner, Kiersey or others can play. They aren't, hopefully, bring in three new starters from outside. That would say a lot about their current prospects.
  13. That's not even close to trading a proven hitter with years of control for a minor league hitter.
  14. That hardly seems like a real point, does it. If you are them, what do you do next year in the OF? They have no starter signed beyond this year..... rudeness isn't an argument.
  15. Oh I agree, they aren't selling. Then they'll just be in the same position next year, without Gray or Maeda, and two more draft picks that won't be around for four years.... And no idea if they have any OFers or not.
  16. To be clear, your article is well written and your arguments have merit. But I really think you are selling the context of this team and next year short.
  17. Good luck finding that on the sellers, and why is a team giving a proven guy up with years of control for an unknown with years of control?
  18. Arizona has the guys I want back for Gray.
  19. Go look at the teams likely to sell, and tell me what you'd want back for Wallner, who might be a legit staring OFer with 6 years of control.....
  20. This team needs to move on or assess its ability to draft and develop players. They have zero young OFers on the roster, not one this FO developed. That's not good....
  21. Kepler has "struggled" on offense for several years......it isn't about "shiny new toys" which is more than passive aggressive toward those that want change. Kepler isn't on the roster next year. They have NO IDEA if Larnach or Wallner are legit MLB players. Gallo isn't on the roster next year. They aren't good enough to win the WS or likely any playoff series with this offense......So, they are literally in the same position next year as this, no LF, CF, or RF on the roster that you know anything about (assuming Buxton isn't playing CF regularly). The FO needs to think beyond just this year, and to do that, they need to learn what they have in two guys that might be as good or better offensively (or might be worse) than Kepler.
  22. I wonder if he isn't in CF because of his arm? That's my hope for the reason, anyway, because he isn't beating out Lee, Lewis, Julien or Polanco for playing time at 2B this year or next.
  23. 2 more after this year? I thought it was just 2024...which to me is more short/medium....but if it is 2025, then sure, I'd just keep him. And, you are likely right even if it is only next year.....so I'm willing to keep him around.
  24. My thought too....
