  1. I think Jason HRuBBel's best days are behind him..
  2. Reusse will take a position counter to informed opinion just out of spite. I will still read what he says because he is a great writer and has country club access, but "I don't care what you think" sums up his feelings pretty good towards the sports fans when it comes to the Twins, Vikings, etc. Example of his Gopher football take: He attacks Jerry Kill mercilessly and has said that the Brewster years were not that bad (and his taken some digs at Mason for good measure). Go figure that one out. That said, he knows the state prep scene better than anyone and has been telling those stories like a pro, for his whole career. Bravo for that.
  3. From the few games I've seen, I have seen Mauer hit a couple line drives to left fielders practically standing on the foul line. I've seen Kubel hit a ground ball directly at a shifted infielder every time he puts a ball in play. It makes you wonder if there isn't anything you can do about it as a hitter (besides bunting). You can't really call it unlucky when it happens over and over.
  4. I will take you one further and run the lineup something like this: SS Escobar 2B Dozier RF Arcia LF Willingham C Pinto 1B Mauer 3B Plouffe CF Hicks Santana/Parmelee/etc
  5. Yeah is it time to start worrying now?
  6. said Kyle Gibson in the post game press conference...
  7. Also... radio guy Corey Provus went home sick tonight... coincidence ?!?
  8. Yeah, for people following at 35,000 feet... No score, bottom of sixth.
  9. Yeah but Pittsburgh is a long trip. Can you fit a used urinal trough on that little bullpen car? Didn't think so.
  10. "I think I'm right, therefore I am" - Hamlet (actually, I was thinking the same thing, about the same thing...)
  11. So.. the Twins packed up Fuld with some sandwiches and magazines and put him on the Greyhound for Pittsburgh, since flying aggravates concussion symptoms.. Ok I better stop while I'm ahead
  12. Would be nice to hear something about Fuld other than "cardio"
  13. Agreed. Gardenhire risks wearing Suzuki out too soon.
  14. Absolutely. There was a programming synergy during the WCCO days that suffered at KSTP and is non-existent at KTWN. That old radio model is a bit of an anachronism today but I bet the Pohlads could make it work if they wanted to, especially here. Meanwhile the MLB At Bat audio is a very reasonable deal and you get all local broadcasts and advertising of all MLB games, no radio "blackouts," plus all postseason games I believe.
  15. Ha ha.. Yeah he crushed it! Like 6 to 8 rows back in right center.
  16. I'm sorry you can't get the signal. This was a fun one. The Cardinals left KMOX about the time the Twins left 'CCO but the Cards returned to KMOX a couple years ago. I'd love if the Twins went back to AM. Baseball belongs there. My dad let me listen to ball games in bed at night in the summer and I tell you, I was hooked for life
  17. Chris Herrmann is in AAA Rochester learning how to rob home runs like Puckett, Hunter and Hicks?
  18. Welcome to the dark side, jjswol...... We can debate early injuries and Bartlett's retirement and such, but a narrow question for you, stringer bell, or whoever else comes along and cares to answer-- do you feel Gardy's outfield options were limited yesterday with Santana and Nunez in the outfield and Hicks and Kubel on the bench.
  19. Wow - good enough for me. Wild but dominant in HS (sort of dominant). Joe Nathan was converted from position player to pitcher in the minor leagues but I'm wondering if that wasn't right away in A ball or even rookie ball -early early in his career.
  20. It's an interesting thought and not unprecedented -- do you have any stats or sources?
  21. Broadly speaking, Suzuki has been doing well. It's defensible to let him keep catching. Specifically, I'm not sure how Kubel ever DH's ahead of Pinto or others anymore, regardless of the "handedness" of the opposing pitcher, especially in hindsight as it resulted in another 0-fer today. Kubel really needs to regain his stroke sometime before yesterday.
  22. I think Hicks is pretty good in center. Not the greatest, but can do the job. Hicks will probably need more game-situation batting practice than he's likely prepared to handle and sure, maybe it would be better if he could get that in AAA. But that's not really an option at the moment? Again: besides Fuld and Hicks, is there anyone else who can play center?
