  1. Mauer leading off a lot tonight. Still not getting on base I guess.
  2. Mauer leading off every third inning, yet batting third in lineup. Gardy happy, TD posters happy.
  3. Sounds like there's more happening in that game than this game.
  4. Didn't Puckett ride the 60 day DL long after he was forced to retire?
  5. Hicks is not the center fielder of the future, but he might be the center fielder of the present? I'm not as sold on Santana and I kind of soured a little on Fuld after yesterday. That leaves Hicks. No one is really down on his fielding (which, yes, is no better than average iirc), it's just the hitting and the off field stuff that bugs people. How would Hick's OBP compare to other 9-hole hitters? He doesn't seem to ever make solid contact but he has been working walks. Now that we have a stronger lineup, maybe it wouldn't be too bad to have Hicks bat 9th and just try to get on base or bunt guys over.
  6. RIP Also a casualty of the 1994 strike --- batting .394 on August 12 when play stopped. Among the best ever.
  7. Never thought to search the ktwin site - thanks. You were right. Gardy gave a pretty good interview.
  8. That's our Ronnie, always stepping up to the plate, sharing the responsibility.
  9. I also feel Escobar has won the SS job, and hopefully Nunez can get back on the field in a day or two. Truly a tough break with Plouffe and Nunez getting hurt the same day. I was a little disappointed seeing the replay of Fuld's throw on the sac fly that ended the game. A pretty shallow ball. I knew Fuld had a below average arm but it was not only a weak throw, but 30 feet up the third base line. We've seen throws like that from Delmon and Revere in the past. Meanwhile Santana has the stronger arm but seems to lack the skill to catch and transfer (never mind his ability to judge where the ball is actually going to come down).
  10. What might be interesting to me is the K/9 rate. Hovered around 7-8 with Phillies, dipped to 4-5 with Twins, back up to 7-8 during stint with Pittsburgh's AAA team. I just sent him a valentine on match.com so let's see if he replies back.
  11. The first move I think you'll see is Deduno moving back to the pen. But really he needs to be the mop up guy who gives you from 3 to 5 innings in games like today. Maybe that means he pitches once every 7 days. Too mistake prone to be used as a late-inning situational guy, though. But yeah there's nothing preventing the team from making multiple moves all at once, either. There are questions about a lot of guys.
  12. Doc: I've said some harsh words about Anderson but what I really don't understand is the pushback from some that he must remain a coach. In the face of losing seasons, and much diminished effectiveness IMO, why it is taboo to even discuss overhauling the coaching staff. I liked Leslie Frazier a lot but I understand why he was let go. He's made a great career for himself. I don't feel sorry for him. I'm still a Vikings fan. Dozier actually did credit Molitor. Calling it "night and day" from last year. Whether that was just Dozier talking freely or whether he really feels it's been a night and day difference having Molly around, I don't know. That link is somewhere.
  13. That's Burdi - is there precedent for that? Not that it would happen, but are there signing rules that prohibit it?
  14. Looking at a replay.. On Cabrera's 5-4-3 double play in the 5th, Plouffe was playing far off the line.. if Plouffe had been playing his normal 3B position that ground ball might have been a two run single.. alchemy or something
  15. Ha ha, Escobar, draws the full count bases loaded walk... and at first base, fellow Venezuelan Miguel Cabrera gives Escobar a pat on the back!
  16. I think you are right. Maybe a few weeks. Maybe just any other night.
  17. No harm no foul, so I will say, Avila's double is why Fuld needs to be our center fielder..
  18. Kendrys Morales, softball swing, base hit.
  19. Gibson usually a sure handed fielder. not sure how long we'll last giving these guys 4 outs per inning.
