  1. Florimon could go 2-3 with a walk tonight, but he still needs to be DFA'd yesterday. Replaced by Romero, even if only for three days. And so Escobar can move back to SS. The only rational thing I can think of is that Gardy wants him to get his average above .100 before he's gone, or what you said jokin. "He's all yours, Ron."
  2. you could be right about that, sad as it is to say
  3. I would like to see the 82-83 or 99-00 type of rebuild that jorgenswest is referring too. That would mean a Pinto/Herrmann/Player C type of on-the-job, year long competition for catcher, similar to how Pierzynski developed. As it is, I don't think the troika of Ryan/Gardy/Antony have the courage to attempt a rebuild like that anymore. So with Mauer out of the picture expect to see a continuing parade of proven veterans signed to play catcher, starting with Doumit, and now Suzuki. So in that sense, I agree with you. As long as we've already got him and he likes it here, try to sign Suzuki on year to year contracts.
  4. I love this metaphor to describe Polanco's call up. I don't know why.
  5. No doubt. Seems like almost every start he's also unlucky with some horrific fielding play. In the first inning today, Aybar had an "RBI double" that was a dropped pop up by Florimon. I actually wonder if Nolasco himself wouldn't be a trade candidate at the deadline - he might really want to get out of here. Who knows.
  6. Cut? You mean, like, "hey Joe, I need a word with you in my office"? Seems pretty harsh.
  7. Unfortunately so. And wherever his average is today, that's where it ought to finish the season at.
  8. I do wonder if we will see bold roster moves come Monday (or sooner).
  9. Polanco's first at bat: a 4-pitch walk. Well, welcome to the bigs young man.
  10. Hypothetical question. 1. Runner on first, one out, Florimon batting. It's a three-run game in the 7th inning. Would you: a. Call for a sacrifice bunt b. Give him a take sign until he either walks or strikes out c. Let him swing away!
  11. I think whatever happens this year, the Twins need to clean house next year, so deal as many of these guys as you can now. Morales if you can get anything (he looks like a softball player). Certainly any of the bullpen guys though there's no way they trade Perk. I've started to really like Willingham but I don't see him coming back, so him too.
  12. I agree -- but I'm not sure how I feel about that. Kris Atteberry said losing Santana would be like losing 3 players: your shortstop, your leadoff hitter, and your backup center fielder. But Santana did not start the season on the Twins and wasn't really part of the 2014 plan. Other guys have been producing just fine. Also. Nunez shouldn't have been put on DL in my opinion. He was running and said he was ready. A pitcher should have been DFA'd or optioned.
  13. we need one of these for baseball. Something that rolls off the tongue. Maybe the Orosco number?
  14. I'm kinda hopin' 5 is the lucky number, like last night...
  15. Thread confusion. Happens to to me all the time when I'm driving.
  16. 125 feet further, and that woulda been a 3-run homer.
  17. ugh, he's batting more and more like the beer softball league guy he's shaped like.
  18. Honestly Nunez insisted he was ready but Gardy said no he wasn't. That was what, a week ago?
