  1. I actually was not as bothered with last night's loss as much as the 7-0 loss the night before. Last night was close. (Though I didn't see the whole thing straight through). Guys had some good at bats at the wrong times last night. Angels made some plays. Pelfrey got knocked around a little but didn't implode like Gibson and Boyer the night before. May pitched fine (needs to be moved back into rotation now.) Pujols gets a double off May off the end of his bat that looked better than it was, and May came back next inning and dominated. Rosario threw a guy out tagging. They picked a guy off second. There were signs of life.
  2. I would add the words "right now" to that phrase and back it 100%
  3. It's the predictability right now. There wasn't any bunting last night, so expect a full load of it tonight. I admit Molitor is a little constrained with his bullpen but O'Rourke looks legit, so then why waste pitching him for 2 meaningless innings last night, as pointed out earlier. Stuff like that. Where would we be without some timely home runs lately. The Twins need to pick it up and take this by the horns!
  4. Fein or May tonight? Taking bets
  5. Agreed, restraint wouldn't be the worst thing, as adding Sano and Ervin Santana is pretty big itself. However, there is still a logjam of valuable young corner infield/outfield guys that we don't have room to play.
  6. Escobar is a much better option than Santana right now. Escobar looked clumsy last night, but so did every other infielder. At least Escobar has competitive at bats and worked that leadoff walk last night in the 6th when the game was still close.
  7. I'm not seeing much evidence lately of the super baseball IQ Molitor has. It will be fun to see how the Twins respond. They are still in the drivers seat for the wild card game. Molitor absolutely needed to have Perkins pitch 2 innings on Friday in that 10 inning loss. He's not being overused. Perkins hasn't had an opportunity to pitch since. He is rested if we need him 2 innings tomorrow night. Maybe the Twins have a private handshake with Perk we don't know about.
  8. EVERYbody looked ****ty tonight--congratulations for narrowing it down to one guy!
  9. "Players like Lucroy don't come around that often." But players like Sano, Buxton, Meyer and Berrios come around all the time? lol
  10. I think you are really selling Arcia short. Arcia has shown as much raw home run power at a young age as anyone else in the league, not named Trout. Yet if he doesn't improve on that in the next year, his trade value approaches zero? I don't see it. I'm sure there are teams that will take him off the Twins hands for next to nothing.
  11. It appears the Twins are viewing Eduardo Escobar's 2014 season as a fluke, and Danny Santana's 2014 season as not a fluke. Or maybe Escobar gets bench because he misses a sign occasionally, or does some other little thing that the coaches don't appreciate, and Santana gets the start because he tries hard and needs the repetitions. Not sure what's going on.
  12. You said it. Arcia could be a catalyst if given a fair chance. Arcia can make a bad play in the outfield but you could use a defensive substitute for him in the late innings when necessary. We've also seen him make good plays. Also, he doesn't air mail balls to the infield any more often than Torii still does (at age 39).
  13. Not a joke---you are right. I'd like to see Burdi promoted back to AA now, while he's going good, and then evaluate again after another half dozen outings. Maybe he can help the Twins down the stretch? There's no rule that says he can't still be promoted to MLB quickly if it appears he suddenly and genuinely has made that step (all the normal caveats: I've never laid eyes on him, the Twins know more, etc)
  14. Burdi was demoted? Heh, I actually missed that one. I'll um, just escort myself off this thread.. wait, is the joke on me or on everyone else? so confused
  15. What evidence is there that the Twins ever considered promoting Jay to MLB this season and using him in relief. Maybe I missed it. On that same note, when will the Twins promote Burdi to MLB? He was another guy considered MLB-ready when drafted last year. The Twins have an urgent need and Burdi has now strung together some pretty good appearances.
  16. I still wonder if the Twins even consider catcher a weakness. The starting pitching is so vastly improved and I think the Twins are happy to give Suzuki much of the credit for that, because of his off field work and rapport he supposedly has with the staff. I would love it if they traded for one of those guys above.
  17. Who got the last laugh in that trade? Not the Twins, unfortunately.
  18. That's right. There was the museum that closed after he passed away.
  19. Great story about pitching. Some guy named Bob Feller made his MLB debut on this date 79 years ago--he could pitch.
  20. Probably zooming in on the data would give a better picture. But, pinch hitters can make an impact. I would have left out the NL too if I had looked this up myself. Different rules and not teams we are competing against. You'd like to think the Twins would be somewhere in the middle of something like this, not dead last and not even within shouting distance of next to last.
  21. No, we can't. Next man up. Who else wants to play today?
  22. I was just thinking the same thing as you. Basically the Twins have gone from an 8 man bullpen to a 5 man bullpen the past few weeks. Duensing has been good since they started giving him multiple days off between appearances. Maybe they are picking his spots more wisely, or discovered that by accident. They gave Tonkin plenty of chances. Oliveros is off the 40 man, so I don't expect to see him at all, ever. Pressly was called up. Stauffer was finally cut. I believe the Twins feel they are already being proactive about their bullpen. I expect they will give Option 1 every effort to succeed. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. The 8th inning set up role will be whoever is the "hot hand" between Boyer and Fein, and hopefully Molitor can get creative again trying to make that work. There's nothing stopping Molitor from giving May a couple chances in that role, however.
  23. Wow Great job looking this up. To borrow a trademarked phrase: Mind boggling. The Twins have so much to hold their heads high about, and then there's stuff like this.
