  1. On Sano being thrown out on third: Glynn was waving Mauer home and ran with Mauer down the line to the plate. So Glynn wasn't even in the play to give a stop sign to Sano. Glynn made a mistake but Sano's inexperience played into it, too. Also, of Sano hits the ball 8 inches further it's a home run
  2. You are right. Thanks for filling out the picture for me. That pitch was way too close. We're lucky Plouffe is a guy who will laugh it off.* *and as I type that, Plouffe steals third without a throw...
  3. close... Detroit pitcher buzzed Plouffe, not Suzuki. No idea why. It was the very first pitch of the 2nd inn. and it was a straight fastball right at his head. Plouffe laughed it off and lined a single on the next pitch, sparking the 3 run rally.
  4. Dozier pops out, in foul territory, for second out. Guy really knows how to kill a rally.
  5. Correction, there IS math: 2-0, good guys!
  6. Remember /there's no math / in the game threads
  7. By reading Detroit news article comments, it looks like the Detroit fan base is on fire and in full pitchfork. (and they were restless even before last night) Let's add some more fuel to it
  8. Going to Tigers. Or should I say, coming to Tigers. He will be at Target Field today and in uniform. http://www.freep.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2015/07/11/detroit-tigers-neftali-feliz/30013589/
  9. Suzuki's at bat taking that weak curve in the shoulder on a 1-2 count!!!
  10. yep, happens quite often that someone decides to skip out at the last minute.
  11. you throw a hell of a ball, sampleSizeOfOne!
  12. I heard Provus and Atteberry saying he wasn't throwing his splitter, so was just offering an educated guess as to why not. I imagine Molitor does call pitches sometimes but if it was Suzuki calling the pitches and not wanting to block a low splitter in that situation, then that's even more evidence to me that Suzuki needs a break and Molitor should rest him more. Fryer caught Santana's last prep in Rochester (8 shutout innings) so will be interesting to see who catches him tonight. So, it's not like Suzuki needs to catch Santana due to some veteran rapport they have that Fryer doesn't.
  13. I didn't agree with the second inning bunt, but whatever. My opinion is that Suzuki was bunting because Molitor feared Suzuki might hit into a double play, which would have prevented Dozier from batting with those runners on base later in the inning. Radio announcers said Pelfrey wasn't throwing his split finger fastball with a runner on third in the 8th. The problem is, that's his best pitch. My guess is that Molitor was afraid a split finger might result in a wild pitch which would score the go ahead run for Detroit. I like Molitor but it felt like he was managing scared and "not to lose" last night. We saw some good surprises early in the season (like JR Graham pitching those 3 innings in Pittsburgh) and some good things like the shifts are still happening, but I think Molitor is a little stale right now. Lots of posters want Molitor to try May as a 7th or 8th inning guy. Something outside the box. No dice on that one, apparently. Or with Fryer's strong debut Wednesday, maybe play Fryer on back to back days. An idea so zany it just might work! But you get the feeling Suzuki will be out there 2 of the 3 remaining games before the break.
  14. Guys on the radio said Pelfrey was not throwing his split finger fastball out of fear of a wild pitch. Problem is, that's his best pitch.
  15. Or, put him in Left and hope no one hits it to him. Which honestly is basically what we do when Escobar is out there.
  16. if he's really found that grip on his split finger, then I almost think yes. What do you think?
