  1. I think the dirty looks and innuendo is just color to the story. The substance of the column would be Hughes and Perkins no longer having a competitive fire within them after signing huge contract extensions. And in Perkins case missing so much time with injury.
  2. Agree completely, but I think it's more of "who" was at the party, than what they were watching.
  3. Thanks for letting us know what those clowns are talking about
  4. I agree with Souhan though no surprise he is very clumsy about what he is saying. I also think guys like Perkins confuse normal nicks and dings with real injuries and it's unfortunate that his injury announcements always seem to come after rocky outings (disclaimer: Perkins might actually be injured! Who knows!) It's also telling that there's an unnamed front office member predicting Perkins won't pitch again this season. And that prediction was apparently made before his setback while playing catch Sunday.
  5. Great moments in broadcasting: Cory Provus delivers a well-argued informational speech on how Mauer might bunt against the shift leading off the ninth, finishes speech as Mauer falls behind in count 0-2
  6. Off the top of my head, I'd like to watch the sandhill crane migration, also college world series
  7. I am totally on board with resting Sano. As opposed to sending him to the minors. Ryan told Provus he wants to see Hughes go nine today (paraphrasing slightly). Couldn't agree more. Good luck to him today.
  8. recent? No... was it another one spelled R, E, L, A, and X? Of course he would still have 135 characters to explain himself
  9. Good luck to Dean today. I will be following from a distance.
  10. If only the players were allowed to address the fans directly, we might actually find out what the hell is going on. (and by players, I mean the younger, mostly Latin American players)
  11. good snip, by the way. Got carried away.
  12. No Twins fan bats 1.000 in their opinions, nor does any GM ever bat 1.000 in their offseason moves. Lots of people (not just on this thread) continue to claim this is a bunch of hindsight. First of all, who cares? This is an Internet discussion board. Secondly, many of the things these same posters wish were hindsight are not hindsight at all. I get it, nobody sees every thread and things get missed. However, Shane has been arguing to try an Arcia/Hicks platoon in RF since before Torii Hunter was signed last season and I joined him. Their batting splits looked really advantageous for that. Hicks could also give you plus defense in right field at the end of games. Having so many corner infielders might cause a problem. Not hindsight. Also, bullpen problems. Who could have predicted that, right? Again, no fan bats a thousand. No GM bats a thousand. We are all trying to figure this out. So instead of coming on the thread solely to denigrate the OP, offer some ideas of your own, or piggy back on some one else's. What are the Twins ideas that are working? If a few people feel that questioning the front office reveals ignorance, then so be it. rant over.
  13. At least it's data, so it's not all bad. Also, why can't the Twins be more toward the middle in lists like this.
  14. Good work. (You, not the front office.) I agree #1 on the list is trade Plouffe, or if you prefer, move him to another position. This is because Sano could be a generational talent. The Twins might also consider the value of having a loogy in the bullpen, though that would probably clock in at about 79th on your list.
  15. Interestingly, Jose Batista batted leadoff last night. What's wrong with Polanco batting leadoff? He was on all the prospect lists.
  16. Not that it matters anymore, but Danny Santana was having a good game tonight. He is turning into a decent center fielder. Then he committed a baserunning blunder at the end tonight that was a 100-fold worse (to use Molitor's words) than Rosario's stolen base Wednesday. I would have liked to see Rosario given the same vocal support Santana was given. It's a mystery how various players on this team are treated so differently irrespective of their abilities. At the plate I feel Santana relies too much on the bunt, and perhaps the league will catch on eventually. But he can fill in fine until Buxton is called back up.
  17. Here is a Brian Murphy column with extended quotes corroborating what I had suspected. Thank god at least one print writer in this market stepped up on this one. Here is the link if you are interested. http://www.twincities.com/2016/05/18/brian-murphy-twins-phil-hughes-needs-to-either-pitch-or-rest/
  18. Or the episode when Data got drunk, if that's your preference http://www.pagan-gerbil.net/images/blog/f4b5b1df90d7_7402/image.png
  19. I believe you. Yeah, that's what I really don't like about losses like this. MLB baseball players are living blessed existences, no need to feel sorry for them, and then, something like this happens.
