  1. Absolutely valid concern. I wanted to see him get the complete game shutout, but as we saw, it got a little chaotic and the Twins were a batter or two away from losing control and making a pitching change anyway.
  2. Here are some recent streaks (per first page of Google) 21 - Giants, 2011 19 - Giants, 2017 17 - Blue Jays, 2016
  3. Not yet. Didn't the Giants have 16 or 17 straight solo homers just last season?
  4. Something like this could also be tracked in a notebook, offline. Seriously though, it's been three games. I'm not sure what the issue is. Too many solo homers? Not enough people getting on base constantly?
  5. I heard the play on the radio but didn't realize there was a shift. Still should have been swinging away, imo. Also, did it sound like a "let's go home!" chant after that bunt?
  6. I also recall a home game being played in the visitors park, but the home team / displaced team still batted in the bottom half. I think unless there's actual rain or sleet the games get played!
  7. Yah they pretty much have no choice but to play those games, too, even though it's supposed to be cold all the way through next weekend because their first two home opponents do not make second trips to Target Field all season (great foresight by teh mlb schedulers)
  8. It's unusual and exciting how Kepler can generate those 400-foot bombs on such low pitches without the upper cut swing, just using his regular level swing, it's a gift.
  9. How far have the Twins progressed in the past year? Sano is being allowed to catch popups behind second base edit: Ninja’d by Craig “country boy” Arko
  10. yup, and I think pulling him is probably the right call.
  11. Welcome to the bigs, Nestor Cortez..
  12. Not that Chief asked me, but I recommend this model: http://asgnation.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/cuci-piriang.jpg
  13. A walk is as good as a hit — that goes into the outfield and the runner on first advances to third!
  14. Can I still show up at Target Field and buy $14 dollar craft beers while I look out longingly at the empty expanse of ballfield?
  15. Royals lose Salvi Perez for 4-6 weeks with a knee injury---carrying his luggage. Horrible luck, a fun guy to watch and compete against.
  16. The Twins have been trying to talk Vargas into playing overseas for multiple seasons now, and he has refused. So there feels like some "twist the knife" in all of this. But I'm not feeling bad for Vargas personally as he's made it to the show and had a nice little run. Could the Twins use Vargas off the bench more than that 14th reliever at the back of the pen?? um, yes , certainly for the first few weeks or so, when there's so many days off they supposedly don't even need that fifth starter. But I can also see the value if the are able to slip him through waiver to AAA. Just my .02¢
  17. Yeah if there were only some mechanism by which to monitor discussion, ensure civility,.. make sure conversations stay on topic.. Trying to think...
  18. Congrats! I saw Riverbrian just used a comma, so looks like you've hit the ground running!
  19. I absolutely agree with every word of your last paragraph; at the same time, I think a lot of the Trump hysteria is coming from the center, for example Romney circa 2016, and that the center is just in the hippy-kicking mood like it always has been from time to time. I think NPR has slipped too far into BothSides, politics-lite reporting of issues and I feel like this was happening before Trump came on the scene. Just my opinion. I don't know if NPR is doing any happy Nazi "just-like-you-and-me" profiles like the NY Times has done since Trump took office.
  20. It's been crap for a while now, IMLO Don't know what happened. What did you hear this time? Last time I heard NPR it was probably Jonah Goldberg talking, or someone like that
  21. Hughes "takes the bump" again today, and here is my bingo card*: - on an 0-2 pitch - shoulda been out of the inning - still injured - spring training stats don't matter - working on change up grip - can't read too much into one start *keeping with the sarcasm theme..
  22. Busenitz is better than those guys, but whatever.
