  1. Mauer due up this inning, just a home run and triple short of the cycle
  2. traded, released, and ... what's the third one?
  3. Did Joe tweet that between innings, after his double?
  4. Rickey and Joe -- two of the biggest egos in the game
  5. Joe also said he was going to pull the base out of the dirt, but didn't, so... disappointed
  6. no thanks Hey, I generally agree with you on this, but let's also take it case by case. This Gunn guy seems pretty sick (if the stories I read are accurate) and maybe it's time for him to leave this line of work anyway, and go get himself well.
  7. Has anyone here actually read Gunn's tweets? I think "weren't particularly funny" misses the mark by juuuust a little
  8. Agreed. The "broken arm" aspect was hard for some of us to look past, but bless the FO, they did. Maybe Pineda is on track and will pitch superbly from the get-go next season. Seemed like an unnecessary gamble at the time and still does. Maybe it would be a better signing at 3/12 instead of 2/12?
  9. On the other hand, they signed Bartolo Colon in July and rode him to the end. Tim Melville got a start on August 21st.
  10. So it's fault of the liberal wing of the party that Clinton, the moderate, couldn't come up with a compelling campaign message? ok sure
  11. will be interesting to see who the prospects are and if any of them would have looked good in a Dozier trade (which we'll never know)
  12. Got it! My bad for not reading the whole thread. But Dozier can be so up-and-down it's hard not to argue Escobar's "consistency" would be a factor.
  13. I strongly disagree. Many (most?) players ebb and flow over the course of a season. So unless you can hold up some other valuable players who bat right at their league average for most of the season, I will not agree that Escobar's unequal halfs are much worth noting. Also, Escobar has positional flexibility. Maybe most importantly, he is a positive influence in the clubhouse. I think "chemistry" and "leadership" can be overrated, but it can't be dismissed, and Escobar brings it in spades. Dozier and Escobar are probably my favorite players however I understand changes need to be made to move forward. Of the two, I'd keep Escobar.
  14. Ok so I will admit it wasn't a very well thought out reply. However, why is the left of the party supposed to fall in behind the Pelosi and Schumer types? Why arent they asked to compromise or champion issues coming from their left (or better, step aside or retire)
  15. There were a lot of reasons she lost. I don't know where your Stein-voting friends reside, but if they reside (and voted voter fraud libs haha) if they reside in Illinois, then a vote for Stein is a good place to do it, given Illinois being a lock. Taking for granted left-leaning voters in the neighboring Midwest states in general is definitely one of the big reasons she lost. No, not the only reason.
  16. But even before that, the problem is feeble candidates.
  17. Liberal voters fell in line in 2016, thankyouverymuch. But they still get fingerpointed. So, yeah. Check the map. Clinton lost the Midwest because she didn't campaign there after she won the nomination.
  18. Might as well walk another guy, set up some sweet force play opportunities across the diamond
  19. Agree, but home plate umpire is going to be optioned back to AAA after game today for poor performance
  20. maybe Andy Samberg can get us back in the dugout
