  1. Esco and Doze would do that "fake enemy" bit -- loved it
  2. Doze brought the clubhouse together. 2017 doesn't happen without him. In that sense he is irreplaceable.
  3. I give credit to the radio team for giving an extended interview to Dozier after the game last night. It was nice to hear his voice.
  4. Dear Van, do you think the front office will use "peripherals" or "analytics" to win the game tonight?
  5. I'd bet all these guys are filler, at best, except for maybe the guy in the Pressly trade.
  6. It's a season multiple of three!!! 2006: epic rally to catch Detroit 2009: down 7 games back in September 2012: never mind 2015: first pennant race in five years 2018: ?!!?!?
  7. Next step in Garver's development: actually throwing down to the base the runner is attempting to steal.
  8. I've already killed my Snoopy avatar, if that's any indication Look I knew it was bleak. But I wanted to see what happened. There are (or, were) signs that a nice run of baseball might happen. I've laid those out elsewhere. I was being optimistic. The front office was being realistic. I'm an irrational fan of my team. Esco was my guy. What can I say. Mauer called the Escobar trade a "punch in the gut." He was right. The radio guys said the team left the Boston clubhouse after the game that night hurt and mad (I think that's what they said, or that was what was conveyed, anyway). The "sell" crowd was wrong last year, no? And just as rabid?
  9. I wanted the pennant race, to see if they could make up ground with some of their best players coming back to action and some games against Cleveland coming up. I wanted two more months of potentially meaningful baseball. I wanted to see what happened. I haven't mentioned anything about airline safety -- see what I did there? -- or the postseason probability models anywhere in any of these threads. Many of us wanted the pennant race. Others of us wanted to sell out. The front office wanted to sell. Fair enough.
  10. Or, for those who prefer to read standings, 7 games back.
  11. Yeah, well, none of the players they signed did much good. If that is a point in their favor to you and the other folks, then great.
  12. Now the front office is telling LaVelle they tried to extend Escobar. Well, maybe. I will bet on that being pure damage control instead.
  13. I wasn't talking about trade return or "expecting/hoping" to get back any prospects. I was asking for clarification that the short term pipeline was robust, which I sort of read as "upper minors is already stacked," which I disagree with.
  14. At this point it's fence straddling if they do not go whole hog and trade Dozier, Morrison, Rodney and Lynn.
  15. No one against selling was ignoring that, not any more than your side is ignoring the sweep in Toronto, win in Boston, and the upcoming games against Cleveland. Right?
  16. You should rethink which side that angst is coming from. The original poster acknowledged that the players have failed to this point. But, there were signs, like last year, that the players were starting to turn it around. The original poster wanted the front office to let the season play out. I agreed completely. That's basically it.
  17. I am sympathetic to this, somewhat; the story of KC and Houston was losing 100 games a year in order to get high draft picks. But we already have those top picks. Royce Lewis, Rooker, and Larnach (or Kirilloff), are already in the organization. We don't need to "re-blow it up." I don't see how retaining Escobar would have interfered with their development.
  18. I guess we just see a huge difference between acclimating and contributing to wins. The only position player who I see contributing next year would be Rooker.
  19. Well, the same front office selling Escobar for lottery tickets is the same front office who brought us Lynn, Morrison, Rodney, who can't close out a one run game, Duke and Reed, who have been ok at times but overall average, and Odorizzi, who has been average though I do like Odorizzi. You can say in other threads that all of those FA signings were "smart" signings, but that doesn't make it so. Not everyone was on board or happy about the offseason.
  20. I've soured on Sano over the past year so I see what you mean, but I think a Mauer-Sano platoon at 1B/ DH works in 2019. They could both play about 75% time and also be late inning subs and Sano can also field at third.
  21. So the whole season for you boils down to a 3 game series. That all you got?
  22. Also, I love Dozier, but I just think Father Time is not being kind to him. We see how Kipnis and others of his type are not aging well. At this point I hope the front office trades Dozier to a winner. Get whatever you can get. Might as well complete the 2018 sell off. Why go half way on that, too? I am in complete agreement with the original post. I want to see a six month pennant race in 2019.
  23. I believe in Kepler, still believe in Buxton, have always believed in Gibson, but the other name you are looking for is Eduardo Escobar. See what I mean?
  24. Record and standings don't lie, except for when they do. You see, if I state that this Front Office inherited an 85-win team from 2017 and has turned it into a sell-off in 2018, then I'm told that they weren't as good as their record in 2017. So, no, that is just your opinion.
