  1. Ugh. The "not fair to the other guys" philosophy just kills me sometimes. Just my opinion. All these guys are paid obscene amounts of money to play a child's game. When they leave the playing field they will have credentials to get a job in baseball in some capacity. They should be set for life, or if not, let them scramble like the rest of us and carry their memories the rest of their lives. /soapbox There's nothing unfair about calling up Milone and demoting Nolasco to the bullpen. Better now than when Santana returns. EDIT: yeah the 6-man might be a possibility temporarily so long as it wouldn't create havoc on the routine of the other 5 guys. I'd be hesitant to change too much just yet, maybe not until they start slipping back to .500-- not sure. It's an interesting idea.
  2. I would also accept player comps to 2011 Chipper Jones and 2014 Martin Maldonado, for these reasons.
  3. All he had was a couple bad innings against the Tigers and Royals. I hope they call him back up.
  4. Mollie likes to keep his starting nine in the lineup, but it's not uncommon to need 2 pinch hitters at #9 in an NL game, not counting you might want to pinch hit for Rosario. Blech.
  5. I doubt the Twins even know how this will play out. The thing that would bother me the most is if Sano continues to rake but is held back in the minors anyway.
  6. Bring up the young guys. And we are already doing that. If they struggle, everyone will see it, and you just send them back to the minors. Admittedly there's an issue with what to do with Sano as long as Plouffe continues to play well. But Rosario had a nice game today. May pitched well. Hicks works better than Schafer for the moment as a placeholder for Buxton. Maybe Hicks even has a future in left or right. You could find room for Meyer in the bullpen if you really wanted. And so on. The home team is playing well right now but I don't think that means we completely abandon the development process for the prospect types. Those are they guys who will compose the next playoff teams.
  7. Did this guy pitch with Jim Palmer and the pennant winning teams a few years later?
  8. Also, Cole Hamels has a no-trade clause against most teams in the Midwest. In other words, he wouldn't want to play here. I think that needs to be factored. I think its fair to start wondering what to do with Sano, however. The Twins love their Plouffie at third base and neither Sano or Plouffe are suited to play anywhere else.
  9. This team looked miserable at 1-6 but they've played at .667 now over a sample almost 3 times as big as those first 7 games. I'm still concerned about the outfield, and it would be nice to see Meyer be a part of this (in the bullpen) but yeah, it does feel different than past years.
  10. bat-girl must be lurking on TD somewhere

  12. sorry I missed it! EDIT: (sorry I missed the Dozier play, that is) (not the star wars night) SECOND EDIT: (though i liked star wars) THIRD EDIT: (just not enough to dress my dog and cat up and walk around the neighborhood)
  13. For having songs stuck in your head... you could do a whole lot worse than Luckenbach. I salute you folks
  14. The sad thing is, someone saw that stance, and their first thought was "That man will be a manager someday"

  16. As of tonight's Detroit game, Pelfrey is pitching very well. Nobody expects a whole season of this, but stranger things have happened. Ride the hot hand. Keep him in the rotation. Ricky Nolasco? When you get back from your rehab, there is a new place for you to sit. Easy Eddie will take you out there and explain...
  17. If this game thread were the Gong show, I'd be gonged... And it would be the long entertaining dancing gong, where everybody's having fun except for the sad sack on stage who's about to cry and doesn't know if he should continue
