  1. Did this guy pitch with Jim Palmer and the pennant winning teams a few years later?
  2. Also, Cole Hamels has a no-trade clause against most teams in the Midwest. In other words, he wouldn't want to play here. I think that needs to be factored. I think its fair to start wondering what to do with Sano, however. The Twins love their Plouffie at third base and neither Sano or Plouffe are suited to play anywhere else.
  3. This team looked miserable at 1-6 but they've played at .667 now over a sample almost 3 times as big as those first 7 games. I'm still concerned about the outfield, and it would be nice to see Meyer be a part of this (in the bullpen) but yeah, it does feel different than past years.
  4. bat-girl must be lurking on TD somewhere

  6. sorry I missed it! EDIT: (sorry I missed the Dozier play, that is) (not the star wars night) SECOND EDIT: (though i liked star wars) THIRD EDIT: (just not enough to dress my dog and cat up and walk around the neighborhood)
  7. For having songs stuck in your head... you could do a whole lot worse than Luckenbach. I salute you folks
  8. The sad thing is, someone saw that stance, and their first thought was "That man will be a manager someday"

  10. As of tonight's Detroit game, Pelfrey is pitching very well. Nobody expects a whole season of this, but stranger things have happened. Ride the hot hand. Keep him in the rotation. Ricky Nolasco? When you get back from your rehab, there is a new place for you to sit. Easy Eddie will take you out there and explain...
  11. If this game thread were the Gong show, I'd be gonged... And it would be the long entertaining dancing gong, where everybody's having fun except for the sad sack on stage who's about to cry and doesn't know if he should continue
  12. Anybody on base, or where they all solo shots?
  13. 3 hrs at the gym today and my feet hurt 3 hrs at the gym today 3 hrs 3 homers ??? I ask again...
  14. Oh, I wouldn't say I restrict myself to the game threads... That's a little basset right?--thanks again!
  15. LOVE - THANKS!! I'm out before I say anything else stupid tonight
  16. yeah why did this start out as a puppy-hating thread, anyway?
  17. Robinson 9 pitch at bat, draws a walk? Not bad
  18. Following on MLB, and I am seeing things like: Pickoff attempt, Pickoff attempt, Pickoff attempt, wild pitch, runner to second. Uff da.
  19. About that, I do not know. For all his flaws, I do think Gardy has plenty of good selling points. He's loyal and personable. Good instincts. He knows the league. (I see him as an AL guy.) He can hit the ground running Day 1, as opposed to Ausmus, who sent text messages to Leyland last year during slumps. Depends on how serious Gardy is about adapting the hiring organization's ideas about the game, analytics, choosing pitching coach, etc. I think a lot of teams would be open minded about hiring a guy like Gardy, not all, but many.
