  1. It feels like we are revising our estimations of Hu after the fact. I'm not predicting anything here, but the writers on this site had him Top 20 and Top 15 as the season wore on, a couple of our bloggers had him higher than that. These are the guys I presume follow Twins prospects more closely than the national stringers (I could be wrong). To me, TD rankings are more reliable than MLB or industry rankings. I don't mind trading Hu but I would not dismiss the idea that he might have been a borderline Top 10 prospect heading into 2016 if things had worked out a little different. With the proximity of Tampa Bay's offices to Fort Myers and other Florida League towns, I'd also bet Hu was scouted adequately enough. Hu surely has flaws but no doubt the Rays also think they can do something with him. They have a good record developing pitchers.
  2. The fourth inning was very RISPy, starting with a lead off double, which developed into a bases-loaded, none out situation. It did not end well.
  3. Well said SD Buhr. The post season now includes the wild card game, which is great for TV and not going away anytime soon. KC is emerging as the class of the American League and will be hard to defeat the next few seasons. The Twins need to take the wild card berth seriously, and not as a gimmick or a waste of effort to make a deadline deal for one single game. In fact, this is a season when the AL wild card game will have one or both teams with fewer than 90 wins, so it's maybe even a greater reason to take a shot this year than wait.
  4. I also don't think Mauer should get a day off against a tough pitcher like Price.
  5. There's your run, Ervin Santana. Take good care of it!
  6. Fixed it for ya (press 0 for operator or * to return to the main menu at any time)
  7. I hear ya. I do not consider Vargas a downgrade at first with the glove, and I'm not sure how Mauer ever gets his mojo back at the plate.
  8. Amd since that's not gonna happen, what would you do instead (It is a fair question though, what to do with him)
  9. Lowe flew under my radar-but then it's not my job to track Seattle Mariners relief pitchers. He would have been a great add. After reading up on the mess that is the San Diego Padres, I highly doubt the Twins involve themselves with anything Padres-related, they are requiring a massive salary dump in any deal for a reliever, and I can't blame Ryan for not answering any calls from the San Diego area code. Good day y'all and let's get a win tonight; see you in game thread I hope. At this point I think I'll be happy if the Twins just promote another guy from AAA and have that overdue heart to heart talk with Mike Pelfrey.
  10. Mlb trade rumors saying the Houston ownership pressing for Chapman deal. THAT will be interesting.
  11. Broxton's ERA this year is 5.89! Don't the Cardinals have a statistics department, how did they not see that? *bad sarcasm
  12. Agree, we've been through so much with Hicks that he is almost untradeable. I'm not 100% sure we will slip under .500 though.
  13. I wasn't looking at Mauer's recent OPS when I made that comment. I was going off of the recent statistic that in Mauer's last 19 games he's had 2 RBI. That's a pace for 20 RBI in 190 games, or for Mauer, 20 RBI in one and a half seasons. Sorry for the confusion.
  14. I do agree with chief on this one. It wasn't a intentional walk situation. There were two out and they were losing by a fistful of runs, and as Glunn said, Hicks worked the count in his favor. So they walked him to pitch to Mauer who has been struggling in RBI situations.
  15. Dick wants the game to go to extras so that Rosario gets another chance at the cycle, did I hear that right? /notreally
  16. Mauer lined a single to center. The CF trapped it but it was a legitimate hit.
  17. Jamie Quirk, right? I'd click "like" on the original comment except I was one of many listening/watching that game. Heartbreaking.
  18. Ryan hasn't had much to work with in 2.0 Ryan got Escobar for Liriano. Escobar if used right could be a full time shortstop. Ryan also got Milone for a player he picked up on the waiver wire. Milone's not going to win a Cy Young but there is still a place for the proverbial crafty lefty in MLB. Those are the two that come to mind. There's a little more pressure on Ryan this time. Both because the talent he's sitting on and the pennant race the Twins found themselves in (and in no way should concede). I hope Ryan is taking the need for bullpen help seriously.
  19. I don't know. I think a team would accept Nolasco in a trade if we eat his entire salary. (Only half tongue in cheek). Of course maybe that's what Ryan is doing and everyone is then immediately hanging up on him?
