  1. Concur. No way. Sounds like the dugout was venting some steam because they were losing, but it's all business tomorrow.
  2. I agree completely. Sano is MVP. His net WPA, when prorated through an entire season, rates about 6th or 7th in the majors. That's Miguel Cabrera, Bryce Harper, Mike Trout territory. And the homer in Kansas City could become one of those iconic home runs we remember for years (after the championships have been won). I disagree on ROY, however. I think rookie of the year is Eddie Rosario. I just think what Rosario brought to the outfield and of course his hitting was just as valuable overall as what Sano contributed. (Don't ask me how that works, rating Sano the team MVP but only the second best rookie )
  3. Considering RBI's reputation among the SABR crowd, what should we think of WPA then? I really like WPA but it just doesn't square up sometimes. Like I said above, Sano's 2B doesn't seem like it should be that much more valuable than Mauer's.
  4. I also agree with above posters. I know there is data behind it, but it intuitively does not make sense that Sano's double was statistically 5 times more important that Mauer's double.
  5. Also, Gladden was blaming Hunter getting picked off second on Escobar not laying down a sacrifice bunt on a strike pitch. "Torii thought Escobar was going to bunt that, so Torii took an extended lead off second." Umm, no. Unless Molitor and the Twins have created something they call "the suicide sacrifice" to advance base runners.
  6. yep, I'd even go one further and say if you have to go to frame-by-frame super slo-mo, you are abusing the spirit of replay.
  7. My new favorite words: "Pop up, this should be playable!"
  8. Suzuki came in to catch Perkins. 11 pitches, 11 strikes, 2 strikeouts, 0 runs. CBU: 4-2 good guys after 8.
  9. Gosh an 0-2 hit off Perkins. Kipnis now batting. Help.
  10. Boyer, Fein, May, Jepsen. Half way there.
  11. what are you asterisking? I think you've misused the asterisk there. Also, I am opening another beer.
  12. Funny the Vikings are playing at Denver again Sunday. If they can crush the pocket like they did yesterday they will have a chance.
  13. Yeah Tarvaris never really worked out here.
  14. Concur. Would be hard to find fault with Milone's outing, or taking him out now. Would be hard to second guess that. (I will try my best, though:)
  15. I bet Molitor will use a situational closer next year, with Perkins and Jepsen splitting most save situations. Hopefully next year we have another good arm to add to that.
  16. Sano: they should have called him up in June when he had already been mashing a while and the Twins went into that collective slump. In fact I remember some discussion threads asking what Sano might even be worth in a trade. Why leave him in the minors for so long? I was one of those who wondered if there was something wrong with him. Guess there wasn't. Rosario: didn't know enough about him. Twins Daily has really gotten me interested in minor league goings-on, however. (That, and some extra time on my hands in my "old" age.) so Rosario seemed to come from nowhere. He is a plus in the outfield, so much more valuable than Arcia. Which is good, as it frees up Arcia to be used as a DH vs righties. Rosario, if he can lay off bad pitches might be an All Star at some point. Hicks: I always felt he was a bit of a scape goat, maybe still is, but his extended stay in AAA at the start of 2015 was well earned with all the shenanigans surrounding him. If this is the real Hicks we are seeing, wow. Although I think he's hit a little slump here now. Escobar: goes without saying Molitor gave Santana too much rope. There shouldn't be a competition for shortstop in 2016. I also think there could have been a few extra wins in there. Can't get them back though. We can however go into 2016 with a better shot at the postseason, provided the pitching holds up.
  17. I think what will hurt Dougie the most is temperament.
  18. Brent Spiner can't keep a straight face (and I bet they shot that scene 10+ times)
  19. That's not a river, it's Lake Erie. What you are mistaking for the opposite bank of a river is maybe just a huge pile of floating junk?
  20. I just realized Pelfrey is starting tomorrow. That explains why he is not available for long relief tonight . By the way, the Twins do not have a long reliever, so we can dispel that myth. No one tonight pitched more than 2 innings. That is not long relief.
  21. I get your joke, by the way Walking with an intentional gait, because of he.... well, you know.
  22. No, I think you describing Brett's hemorrhoids, chief.
  23. Honestly, if Pelfrey can't get warm in time to come into a game like this when we need him, then he doesn't deserve to pitch another inning for us.
