  1. As the rule stands now, it’s basically illegal to run a straight line to first base. The batter-runner starts in fair territory, must swerve slightly into foul territory to get into that running lane, then exit the running lane at the very last moment to touch first base. The best solution imo is for MLB to widen the running lane another three feet inside fair territory in addition to the existing three foot lane outside. Should have been done long ago, probably.
  2. oh man forgot about that. Looked it up. A 7.0 inning start in Game 6 in 2001, then the final 1.1 innings of Game 7 the next night. Why not?
  3. Noe will Chip Hale insert himself in as pinch hitter? har har i crack myself up
  4. No one can know what Falvey's intentions are, but LaVelle can know what the Boston owner's intentions were? spycake's story is completely plausible to me. Bloom looks like a great candidate given what he's done in Tampa.
  5. World Series ball-strike calling has been atrocious the last two games. I’d bet one in five borderline calls have been missed, easily.
  6. Say what you want about Aaron Hicks, but for the next five or whatever years is left on his contract, he will continue to have better postseason seats than anyone on the Twins.
  7. Here was that Brantley at bat in the top of the 5thPitches 3 and 4
  8. Atrocious ball-strike calling. This is the best of the best?
  9. Maybe Washington’s weak bullpen factored in to that. To which I say, fine the pitcher $500,000 every time he swings at a pitch. ... maybe he will draw a walk not swinging
  10. Runner on third, one out, (close game), and the pitchers spot up. Washington sends the pitcher to hit (Sanchez) and signals bunt, right up to 2 strikes, and Sanchez strikes out bunting. I expected a pinch hitter. (psssst I really wanted to see Dozier hit there)
  11. File this one under: “No such thing as a bad win.” They came out in one piece and will get some rest this week. (Or should; Game not over yet)
  12. The point of it was to show that the Yankees are not some big, scary, unbeatable powerhouse and that no one else in the league has any issue beating them in the postseason.
  13. The fired guy probably played dumb, initially, and whoever drafted up the first statement was probably taking the fired guy on his word.
  14. First of all, I really do appreciate you linking and sharing new information like this. But mostly I just don’t know what he is saying. I don’t know what it means to compare the strike zone to home field advantage. ...not to mention the validity, as mentioned by the previous poster.
  15. Thanks—I am lurking on the purple pain forums. I will join in at some point.
  16. David West—three true outcomes, before it was cool.

  18. Yes Verlander was fielding a “swinging bunt” dribbler toward third and made an awkward throw attempt to first that hit his leg after he had fell on his behind.
  19. Sure. I just can’t tell how much better that is, or how that advantage plays. What is an x % better strike zone?
  20. Verlander working on his Garo Yepremian impersonation on that Zimmerman dribbler?
  21. Can someone translate this Tweet into English? (No pun intended.)
  22. If they parted ways with Cron, they would then need a first baseman too. I think it’s more than fair to bring back Cron while also giving Sano some time at first and ease in a young guy later in the season if warranted (Rooker or Kirilloff)
