  1. I’m surprised no one made anything about pulling Cruz. They certainly didn’t bring it up in the radio post-game. I don’t see how we can pull our best hitter from the game right there. Maybe later in the inning or if his run is the winning run. Get ‘em tomorrow.
  2. Nice subterfuge on this one! At first, I thought this joke would be about Kyle Gibson, then maybe Willie Mays, then finally, maybe about Scott Proctor, relief pitcher in the mid-2000s (emphasis on “relief”)
  3. You say you only recognize a few of the names in the lineup? Wait ‘til you see the names of the guys in the bullpen...
  4. They had room on the roster, I think he is saying, and a minor trade involving some fringe guys could have made more room. I don’t have an opinion on Baddoo but I would have taken a chance on Tyler Wells over a handful of other pitchers currently on the 40-man. Chalmers and Ober were obvious keepers and have a promising future.
  5. I like this idea! How about based loaded, 3-0 count, and a run already in?
  6. I’m going to count most minor leaguers as ex-Twins, if only on the principle that’s its mush more costly to find new talent than retain the talent already in the organization. Especially if someone has been in the organization for several years. Thus, Akil Baddoo and Tyler Wells are ex-Twins, in my book. But I realize that people can decide differently and disagree amicably on this.
  7. A thread for news from around Major League Baseball. Tonight in L.A., the Angels will forego their DH in order to let Shohei Ohtani both hit and pitch in the same game. Ohtani is starting pitcher and will bat second. I think this is his first time in a true two-way role? Has an American League team voluntarily given up their DH in a game, since the rule change in 1973? https://www.mlb.com/news/shohei-ohtani-pitching-batting-second So far hitting in 2021, Ohtani is 2-13 with a Homer and 6 K’s. Can’t wait to see how he does!
  8. We are now also calling him “Column B” on this site, now h/t USAFChief
  9. Great reference! The at’em balls are the hardest to judge
  10. That’s a line drive, but it’s an out, and we’ll take it
  11. Plus now you can use a pinch hitter with a clear conscience!
  12. I hear you but say Berrios runs into trouble in the 8th, walking guys and throwing a lot of pitches but still has the no-no, it’s a lot harder decision to make later in the game.
  13. One down, one to .. just one starter yanked is enough
  14. I know the story behind your user name, but I was actually at that Jacque Jones game
  15. A good lead off of third, and the beard does the rest
  16. If the pitch is outside the strike zone, but still manages to hit me in the beard, is it still a HBP?
  17. Anybody tuning into the game at this point, expecting it to be the 3rd inning or so, needs to hurry...
  18. Nice to get that call on that check swing!!!!
  19. Which pitcher are you trying to jinx this for? (There is only one right answer)
