  1. 1. Pickler to Grossman: "Go stand where I told you, about 5 to 10 feet from the foul line, and only chase balls towards the line. Don't chase anything hit further into the field of play." Sounds about right. I think it can work. 2. Makes too much sense. If the bat barrel (or any of the bat) enters the strike zone, call it a swing. Perfectly fair. I think there would be many more check swing strikes. My gut sense tells me that batters get more leeway than they deserve. Maybe more strikes means faster games, for the "make games faster" crowd. 3. Ugly 4. Unfortunate. Wasn't there a fifth? Asking for a friend.
  2. I love the No Surrender story in San Diego. I softened on Molly over time. He seems to have the pulse of the team, and I don't know if another manager could have gotten them to the postseason this year. The FO has bigger fish to fry (pitching) than conducting a new manager search, or worse, installing the manager candidate they had in mind when they took the job. They were wrong about the team once already when they sold at the deadline. Just my opinion.
  3. The infield was playing in on Buxton in the first. A bunt most likely would have resulted in Escobar being thrown out at home. And Castro would still have struck out.
  4. Erv threw that low and away slider to Judge in the first inning, unfortunately Judge dumped it into center for a single.
  5. That was... you? Why, that's... http://onemansblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/inconceivable.jpg
  6. I think someone teed up an "Inconceivable!" earlier, but no one took a swing at it
  7. Thanks--this is a much brighter statement I can come up with right now
  8. Thanks. I would have tried to get 5 from Santana, also.
  9. No. I'm Wink Martindale, and this has been another edition of Easy Questions, Easy Answers! http://winkmartindale.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/wink-martindale-ySuit-11.jpg
  10. Somehow, that is correct. Worth watching until the end, even though....
  11. If you want nine pitch innings, go be a fan of fast pitch softball
  12. Maybe the Yankees could challenge that play at first and have it reversed
  13. It was a strike. Why should the batter get the benefit of doubt for not swinging at a strike?
  14. Let me repeat: Ervin is still in the game because we sold pitching in July and the average age of the pitchers we acquired is 44 years old
  15. Exactly. (although irrelevant, because we all know how this ends)
