    Jackson as the 13th player will resolve itself in 14 games, if not sooner. He does allow them to use the backup catcher as a pinch hitter instead of Roden/Martin/Gray/Kreidler.

    Kaat and Oliva went into the Hall of Fame together. I hope they can attend this game together. Kaat was also teammates with Mike Schmidt on the Phillies. I hope Schmidt is also attending.

    Plus Rutschman who is already at 17 WAR with 3 all star game appearances. Pencil in 20 WAR and a couple all star games. Earl Battey is a reasonable projection.

    Kaat was on the 1961 team. Oliva showed up in 1962. Carew didn’t show up until 1967.

    They aren’t going to bring up Culpepper to fill Tristan Gray’s shoes. If he comes up he will be the starter. They aren’t going to start his clock to sit on the bench.

    They wanted to break in Fedko slowly. The callup was much more about the long term than the short term. Fedko has consistently struggled when first promoted. Give him a few at-bats now, get the nervousness and excitement out of the way and he might help the next time you need him.

    One thing that limits how often the bench players get at-bats is the switch hitting of Lee, Caratini and Bell. Most teams do not have three switch hitters in the lineup.

    I keep hearing Realmuto and Posey as comps for Lackey. The best comp for Jenkins is Kyle Tucker. Tucker is a multiple time All Star but the catchers are the best at their position in their generation. Culpepper doesn’t have the upside of either. Glad the Twins have all of them.

    If he doesn’t show that he is more than a utility player by then there is little chance he gets selected in the rule 5 draft.

    Kaelen Culpepper is potentially better than the players on the 26-man roster. I think we are more likely to play the waiver game than to call CJ Culpepper up. Danny Coulombe is available right now. Ross has no shot. They will grab a waiver claim or bring back Arcia rather than add him to the 40-man roster. Jack Anderson could make his debut. He is on the 40-man roster.

    The AA season ends a week before the AAA season. I would like to see Houston get that extra week in September. Culpepper played 59 games for Wichita last year. Houston will reach 60 games at that level about September 6 with one week left in the schedule for Wichita.

    Ok. Baseball Reference hadn’t updated yet. Still, people seem to be getting excited based on the good games while ignoring the games where he struggles. The entire body of work is saying he spends the remainder of the season at Wichita.
