  1. Hoffman is an asset at $7.25M. This is basically selling Hill for $3.75M. I am changing my mind from liking the trade to really liking the trade.
  2. How did they end up with 3 catchers on the active roster after the deadline?
  3. I would have outrighted Klein in the offseason, if not sooner. Not worth protecting on the 40-man roster. Pena is a second baseman with no pop in his bat. It is essentially Hoffman for Hill. Hill has a career 6.5 BB per 9 and has been worse this season at 7.4. Who knows if he can put it together before he becomes Rule 5 eligible in 2028.
  4. How about the $20M they owe the Astros and Imai?
  5. Stephenson
  6. He said he will turn down the qualifying offer which means Twins give up a high draft pick for the opportunity to pay him market rate salary. No thanks.
  7. Meanwhile the Dodgers trade for Skubal, giving them 7 starters better than the Twins best.
  8. If Jeffers already said to the Twins that he would reject the qualifying offer, he is doing them a HUGE favor.
  9. You’re “done with” the player who was 1-2 with a walk and scored the winning run last night?
  10. The inexorable trend toward making everyone a relief pitcher. I am against taking starts away from Ryan and Bradley in a pennant race.
  11. So five lefthanders in the bullpen? Minter, Rogers, Funderburk, Rojas and Prielipp?
  12. You need to have a pretty high ceiling to get ranked in the 10-20 range as an 18-year old.
  13. The real opportunity cost here is there is no room to add a good starter. They don’t have a 3rd starter for the playoffs. I guess the plan is to get there and lose.
  14. If Bruin Agbayani is as good as his dad he will end up with a career WAR around 2. Both players project as the kind of guys who get passed around the league on the waiver wire.
  15. Singer has been pitching well for the Reds. He could be this year’s Tyler Mahle trade.
  16. He would need to be a LOT better than his dad to achieve that.
  17. 52 games left on the schedule. Minter could provide 20-25 innings and an extra win compared to using Taylor Rogers for those situations.
  18. I think they can get Toronto to dump Hoffman’s salary
