  1. I agree with you on Achter and Ibarra. I don't think their stuff translates to MLB all that well and we have Pryor, Tonkin and Oliveros to fill those roles with Burdi and Z Jones power arms likely coming up soon anyway. I too like Parmelee and Nunez not sure if Parmelee makes it or not but I think he will. I do disagree on Gilmartin. Although I am not in love with his stuff he is a solid lefty and I think they get rid of the Chris Johnson before letting someone grab the near MLB ready Gilmartin. Would a team claim him probably not but I don't think you can take that kind of risk.
  2. My two cents on the remaining 21. I doubt we clear 9 spots I think more likely 7 but I put the nine I would keep and I could be persuaded to switch some of these guys as I just don't know enough about them. The Twins have some tough decisions to make. Alex Meyer: Keep he will starting for the Twins next year. Miguel Sano: Keep he will be starting for the Twins at some point next year. Lester Oliveros: Keep he will in the Twins pen next year. Jason Wheeler: Keep I think Wheeler could be tempting for another team to take as 5th starter or long relief option he has upside. Sean Gilmartin: Keep, A lefty that could be good in a long relief or 5th starter role. Too dangerous not to keep him on. Jason Adam :Keep, he is the lottery ticket the twins wanted might as well keep him. Eddie Rosario: Keep I think he will bounce back and we may need him to play for Twins next year. Levi Michael: Keep, he seems to have found something and we should see if he can maintain it up to AAA. Aj Achter Keep:, he seems solid, not sure if his stuff translates to MLB. Cole Johnson: Not sure odd man out could be between him and Achter. Danny Ortiz: Not sure seems good but not special James Beresford: He is very good and would be an excellent Utility player but Twins have better options. Niko Goodrum: No way he would make an opening day roster on another team. Deolis Guerra: He is good but I don't think good enough to make most teams. I think we have better options. Tyler Jones: No way he would make an opening day roster on another team. Mike Kvasnicka: Could go either way here if they take Parmelee and Cola off then Maybe they put him on. Brett Lee: Has pitched well but doesn't K a lot of guys. Would be a stretch for him to make an opening day roster. Aderlin Mejia: Not enough power to warrant keeping him on and there are better options. Deibinson Romero: A good player who likely is MLB ready but the Twins have no room for him. Adrian Salcedo: Hate to give up on him but we have better options if someone else takes him. Alex Wimmers: Hate to give up on him but we have better options if someone else takes him.
  3. Yeah I knew he had hit a couple in close situations but wasn't thinking\feeling in the 70% range. Good call out. I think my frustration at watching him strike out so much clouded my memory. I also didn't know where to go to check. Lazy deserves to be called out.
  4. That is what happens when you don;t check facts. Egg on the face.
  5. I don't think anyone is saying Arcia is horrible and will never be any good but several are questioning an approach based solely on hitting the ball over the fence. If a HR is the only goal then even if he hits 50 of them in a season he will bat .100 or less. The issue is instead of looking at what a team is giving you defensively and trying to take advantage, his suggestion is don't change your approach at all. Hit into the teeth of defense that is playing you to pull the ball, but wait no worries just put it over the fence or in Arcia's case just strike out and never put the ball in play at all. That will show them. If I am a pitcher just throw Arcia a couple of balls in the dirt and something low and away and it is an easy out. Most of his home runs have come when the other team is way ahead or behind and they decide to actually challenge him and throw legitimate strikes. When guys are on base too often he is an easy out usually via a K. Having said all that I like the guys enthusiasm. He really seems to enjoy the game and certainly swings with everything he has. His Fielding seem like it has improved but still needs some work but I think he can be average in the field. He seems a lot like Gomez when he came up so maybe he gets it in the next couple of years. I sure hope so because we need him. Right now I don't care for his approach.
  6. Yeah this team is going to have some interesting 40 man decisions this year and the years after, They have so many bullpen arms that appear close to Major league ready that I wonder if they can trade some of the guys they already have to make more room. There are going to be some tough decisions on the farm in the future.
  7. Cool, hope he does well. He is young so a little patience could go a long way. But I like the potential of a lot of the guys we have coming up better. Hopefully he figures it out with us.
  8. It is a good depth pickup for KC and they didn't give up anything significant to get him. Also it takes away a homerun threat when they play the Twins. Twins get yet another bullpen arm. Maybe they can help him get his mojo back to start. It is a good trade for the Twins as they free up space for others to play and get someone with potential as well. I guess it's a win, win.
  9. That is awesome news!! I am not a huge May fan but am anxious to see what he can do at the MLB level. I hope we see more fresh faces.
  10. Would have been nice to see at least one AAA guy in the top 5. Hard to get too excited about the guys at the lower levels as AA is where things become make or break and you find out what you have. I am excited about the depth the Twins have at pitching. The next couple of years should be fun to watch as they climb there way up to the top.
  11. When does Derek move up? I know he just started pitching but seems like he should get moved up given how well he has been doing.
  12. Gotta say Hu has been impressive so far. It seems Ike he came out of nowhere. If continues like this he will be at high A next year. We have us some very good young pitching coming up. Things are getting exciting.
  13. Max has been amazing and I look at his box score and smile, but Swim and Garver have been pretty excellent as well. Nice to have some good hitters to watch though.
  14. Well one thing we know about the Twins is that they are good at trading center fielders and getting value. I thought the Fuld trade was amaziing and I was glad they got a high ceiling very low floor (injured) RP for Moralas who I didn't think we would be able to trade. If they sign Suzuki that is one less piece to worry about in FA. I think the Hammer will be gone in August. Coriea I doubt they can get rid of but can't hold that against the FO. I would say they did quite well. Let's hope the Kids do well when they get called up.
  15. How do the Tigers do it? Every time they need an arm they get one. Well this should make Billy boy cry.
  16. I would be fine as high as 2/18 as long as it is only two years. I just think they really want three years at 8 million to do an extension otherwise they are likely inclined to see what the market brings them. Based on last year he should be able to get 3 years for 21 mil pretty easy I would think. Coupled with the lack of available catchers he could go 3/24. I have to believe it's the years that will be sticking point and to extend you typically have to overpay to make a deal. IMO they should trade him and overpay in FA makes it a win, win that way.
  17. Hard to find anything wrong with the Fuld trade. You get a backend starter that has a better ERA than any of your current starters for a 4th outfielder that was DFA'd. That is a good day at the trading table.
  18. You can't say Billy isn't going all out to try and get his team to World series this year. He has a tight window and a tough team in the Angels to beat. He is sacrificing his future for the present but I think it will work out him or hope it will work out with him. Would like to see David take down the Goliath's this year.
  19. I agree with you. Suzuki is a huge upgrade for both those clubs. The asking price just has to be too high for him not to get traded. I can't believe either of those teams wouldn't want an offensive difference maker on their team for the stretch run. I know trading is a game of chicken and or patience but they need to get something decent for the one decent trade candidate we have.
  20. Any chance they would move Sleigers to High A? I thought they were short a pitcher there as they pitched with their bullpen recently I think. There would be room for Jorge if they did that. Would be pretty cool to see all the young guns come up together.
  21. Nice update. Thank you!! It nice to see so many good players developing in Cedar Rapids.
  22. Yeah I hear ya. Something is better than nothing. I think it is just hard for me to comprehend that we would trade a player and likely get a lesser player in return and call that good. I get that the Twins likely would gain flexibility on the roster and some salary relief and they have players ready to step in but its just hard to see it that way. Also I don't think we will get someone not on the other teams 40 man as they would likely have to DFA someone to add Duensing. If that is the case then what is the point? It seems like clearing the 40 man for lower level prospects is not as easy as it seems.
  23. Excellent article can never hear enough about Berrios. I am stunned at his rate of improvement this year. I sure hope we have found our ace type pitcher of the future. Time will tell.
  24. I hate it when you put in those terms as all hope get's crushed. I think you are right and that is likely why Duensing wasn't traded and doesn't come up in trade talks except on this board. Compared to the competition he just isn't much of an upgrade. All competing teams have 40 man issue's so getting prospects back that are not on the 40 man is going to be tough. Trading is harder than it looks.
  25. I like Brian but if they can get something meaningful for him then I would trade him. We have younger guys that appear ready to take on that role and we might as well bring up younger arms with the core group that is coming up. As beckmt mentioned there is no urgency to trade him. Only if a team was willing to overpay would I move him.
