    this an indictment of Terry Ryan, who also should be on the block but that is a different thread Granted, talent is the bigger part of the equation, but if coaching isn't important, why are the coaches there, why are they being paid? Who gets held accountable? This team has been fundamentally sound under this regime in the past, but that was 5 years ago. Coaching will not make this rotation gold, but maybe bronze instead of [edit] Having great talent is important! but so is execution. A great team excels at both.

    Scotty Ulger and Joe Vavra need to go as well as Anderson and Gardenhire. This a very sloppy fielding and poor pitching team. Much of it is talent, but emphasis and coaching plays a major part. At the end of the day, the most important part is accountability. We hear that word from the team and yet Gardy, Anderson, Vavra and Ulger still coach one of the worst fundamentally sound teams in baseball.

    Reed and Burdi are both relievers, the Twins need at least one front-line type starter.

    you wouldn't know it by visiting. Very very different parks by feel. My favorite feature of Target Field, is actually facing the pitchers mound in my seat without twisting awkwardly and craning my neck

    You are right, the next time Hicks is up, it will be his last, but September can be as telling, if not more so, than the average prospect because Hicks isn't really a prospect anymore. Frankly, if he's not ready for 2015, he won't get a shot as the regular CF. You might as well know where you stand with him for 2015 in October 2014. If Schafer can play CF, why isn't he?

    I'm with you 100%, except for Hicks. I'd like to give Hicks the September call up so Santana can play SS. If Hicks fails, you know you need a stopgap for 2015. If he succeeds, you are set for CF in 2015 and 4th outfield when Buxton arrives. By Hicks succeeding in September, I mean respectable league average batting average with good on-base percentage and not looking lost in every facet of the game. That would be a huge success for Hicks and the coaching staff.
