  1. The FO traded away Hughes and used a draft pick as leverage, was that signing bonus going to be even a million? They traded away Pressly who made 1.6 mil this year. Arb for him would have been less than 3 mil. Falvine can scrape together 4 mil from the couch cushions. Hughes trade was about the money for Hughes, but was relatively payroll neutral. I’m certain these moves have been about acquiring talent or assets for the future. It would awesome to see the FO extend Gibson 3 years and resign Escobar.
  2. I was thinking Polanco 2, Adrianza SS, leave Sano at 3 for the rest of this season to find out if you gotta go get a 1b or a 3b... It would be good to see Rosario get some infield time again, 2B and 3B
  3. exactly! And there’s 11-12 pitchers in Rochester and 11-12 pitchers in Chattanooga, odds are you’ll find a guy or two of 22-24 that surprises you. There’s one 2nd baseman at each. You have to manage the position player pool differently.
  4. I guess we’ll agree to disagree. Something to consider - Pressly was a rule 5 draftee. Most MLB relievers are drafted as starters. Most relievers have very good years, or very good stretches, but only a handful are very good year after year. In my mind relievers are to be churned through as a consumptive commodity. One that gets purchased in bulk and you sift through and decide who’s a starter, who’s a reliever, who’s on the AAAA Rochester express, and who’s minor league fodder. I feel pretty good that they’ll find another Pressly or two soon.
  5. Every year I wonder why HOF festivities don’t coincide with the All Star break
  6. Nice to see Magill getting into some higher intensity situations
  7. I don’t see trading Dozier as punting either. Relief pitchers are fungible. Infield tandem of Polanco 2B Adrianza SS probably yields a better hitting and fielding combo than Dozier/Polanco. Added bonus, Adrianza covers more ground to help with Sano’s Lack of lateral mobility too. Dozier can still provide some prospect assets and no way is he getting a QO anyways... trading him now is win/win
  8. RB’s post about flexibility must have made its way to Molitor with Sano playing 2B!
  9. instead of being a bench player or starter, the goal would be to rotate everyone thru the bench and DH to get regular rest over a long season
  10. Boston or Colorado, I guess. Correct, not much of a market left. To get much for Dozier, Brewers needed to be still in the mix
  11. I don’t believe I am smarter than you Chief, but i’ll Take a stab... His first season was 2015, his birthday is July 1995, so assuming he signed then immediately joined the team, that would put him 19 at the time. I gotta think if he signed earlier, he’d play pro ball during his 18 season... so, with 2018 being his 4th rule 5 draft, he’ll need to be added to the 40 to protect him.
  12. I think relievers may be viewed by the FO as more fungible than starters. I’m not yet convinced they’ll deal Gibby. Dozier on the other hand...
  13. With Escobar and Pressly gone, Dozier is a lock to be traded right?
  14. the guy lost 20lbs. Maybe he’s done most of the designed work. Where’s Parker with the Sano GIFs
  15. something tells me Esco will be making frequent trips to Scottsdale during home stands https://fogodechao.com/locations
  16. 3 propects coming back per Gambadoro https://twitter.com/Gambo987/status/1022942114206937089 Depends, but I'm glad to have gotten prospects back for 2 months of Esco - now I hope Falvine re-signs him in the offseason.
  17. I wish I could like this again. Gibson plus Krilliof isn’t getting it done straight up, but might in a 3 team swap
  18. i saw a quote about a month ago in ppres or strib that cryptically hinted at an issue that only a few people know about. I can’t find it again.
  19. 50 points of OPS at the 100 game mark isn’t trivial or SSS. He had a slightly down year last year, even if he does go on a binge, it’s very likely he’ll be under .800 for this season Dozier doesn’t field well enough to get a longer term contract hitting .750 -.775. Most teams have a Gordon type SS who won’t quite hack it at SS in their upper minors. If he doesn’t pick it up, he could be looking at a 1 year make good contract this offseason.
  20. we’re beyond “Streak” with Dozier
